Instructions how to clear your cache: https://documentation.beamng.com/support/launcher_support_tools/clear_cache/ OLDSFULLSIZE PACK REFRESH - DEMO VERSION Spoiler: History of the mod The orignial Oldsfullsize mod from 2015 was arguably the most famous vehicle pack on the whole website, and one of the most famous mods in the game. It included a bunch of iconic 80s fullsize GM cars: 1980 Oldsmobile Delta 88 ('Codename: Oldsfullsize'), 1980 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser (as a Delta 88 wagon body style), 1980 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight (Regency trim only), 1984-1989 Chevrolet Caprice (Classic trim only), and 1984-1989 Chevrolet Impala (as a lower trim body variant of the Caprice). The mod was famous for its huge variety, it was one of the first 'ultra-customizable' mods, with many fun-focused configurations, including old rusty junkyard cars, broken beaters, crazy derby builds, police and detective cars, high power tuners and dragsters, offroaders, restomod and race cars, etc. It lacked a bit in the realism department, but back then most mods were like this so it didn't matter. The mod has been maintained until 2020, despite numerous game updates breaking it completely, source files being lost, despite the sheer amount of files, lack of organization, and relying on outdated features making it a nightmare to maintain, it always managed to prevail and remain usable thanks to the sheer dedication of its authors. However, its age has been showing in the lack of modern features all other vanilla and mod cars have nowadays - tunable engines, openable doors, moving shifters, PBR paint support, working mirrors, universal vanilla parts, are only a few examples of the many things missing from the original version of the mod. It also has a few broken textures due to referencing old removed files from vanilla game. In early 2023, the original main author of the mod @SergentFido has given up on updating it due to the amount of work needed to bring it to modern standards far exceeding the amount of free time he has. A conversation on the mod's discussion thread ended up in a 'rescue team' of the mod forming on Discord, where we discussed the plans for the future of the mod. We decided on refreshing it, adding modern features, more customization such as 1981-1990 parts, reworking all engines and configurations to be realistic, and redoing the file structure to make the mod much easier to maintain. The original mod rescue group included me, @austen64, @baarry5444 and Vanilla (I don't know their forum tag), with the original author SergentFido helping with the PBR material conversion. I was focused on the file structure and Jbeam, while the others did art and research. Eventually though, everyone except me and Fido lost interest in the mod, so I ended up doing the other things as well. 7 more people helped me at various points of the development, providing help with research, sounds, troubleshooting, textures, configurations, beta testing and other things. Detailed credits will be at the bottom of the page. This is a demo version of the upcoming refresh of the Oldsfullsize mod. THE FULL VERSION WILL BE FREE, THE ONLY REASON THIS IS A DEMO IS BECAUSE THE FULL VERSION WILL STILL TAKE A LONG TIME TO FINISH. It is also NOT A FULL REMASTER, as there would be no time for one, only a refresh - most things stay the same, there are just new parts and features added on top, outated things and the biggest issues are fixed. THE WHOLE THING IS ALSO WORK IN PROGRESS, more issues will be fixed when time allows. In case you don't remember, it's the mod with the rusty 80s Oldsmobiles and Chevrolets. Currently the demo includes 2 cars: 1980-1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 (8th generation facelift), with a sedan, coupe and a custom manually removable hardtop convertible body styles. Including all the trim levels: base, Holiday 88 Coupe, Royale, Royale Brougham, and Royale Brougham LS. All irl engine options included: 231 CUI Buick Fireball V6, the Oldsmobile Rocket V8 in 260, 307 and 350 CUI variants, the 350 CUI Chevrolet 4.000 V8 (the infamous Chevymobile), and 350 CUI Oldsmobile Diesel LF9 V8 engine in both the early 350D and late 350DX variant. Includes many factory options such as the towing package, rallye package, firm ride and handling package, and lots of other less significant ones. 1980-1990 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser (2nd generation facelift), with 2- and 3-seat wagon, custom hearse and custom ambulance body styles. The car had no separate trim levels irl, since 1998 it had option packages 1SA-1SF, and in 1990 it had a special Final Edition variant, all of which are included. All irl engine options included: the Oldsmobile Rocket V8 in 307 and 350 CUI variants and 350 CUI Oldsmobile Diesel LF9 V8 engine in both the early 350D and late 350DX variant. Towing package option included. The full version of the mod will also include: 1980-1984 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight (10th generation facelift), with a sedan, coupe, custom stretched and chopped sedan, and multiple custom limousine bodies with varying length and headroom. Will feature all factory trim levels: LS, Regency, and Regency Brougham. Will feature all factory engine options: 252 CUI Buick Fireball V6, the Oldsmobile Rocket V8 in 260, 307 and 350 CUI variants, and 350 CUI Oldsmobile Diesel LF9 V8 engine in both the early 350D and late 350DX variant. Will include various factory options. 1980-1990 Chevrolet Caprice (3rd generation 2nd and 3rd facelift), with a sedan, wagon and custom hearse body options. Will feature all trim levels: base, 9C1, 9C6, Classic, Classic Brougham, and Classic Brougham LS. All factory engine options are planned, all options and option packages as well. 1980-1985 Chevrolet Impala (6th generation facelift), with a sedan, wagon and custom hearse body options. Will feature civilian, 9C1 police and 9C6 taxi trim levels. All factory engine options are planned, all options and option packages as well. Other cars I want to include, but I would need someone to make a 3D model and a set of textures for each of them, so for now they are not planned: Coupe body style for the Caprice and Impala (both cars use the same body) 1982-1986 Pontiac Parisienne (5th generation 'facelift' that basically turned it into a Chevrolet Caprice rebadge) 1977-1980 pre-facelift variants of all the Oldsmobiles and Chevrolets in the mod - that would be lots of work All cars in the mod will share the frame (for the Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight it is longer and heavier but otherwise identical) and everything that goes on it except for the bodies: engines, bumpers, suspensions, fuel tanks, driveshafts. This means they can be swapped between each other, making for realistic part swaps. There are various parts shared between the cars that are included in special configurations: RUSTY JUNKYARD PARTS THAT BREAK AND DEFORM EASILY, included on various rusty and junkyard configurations. This is the most famous feature of the mod and it has been kept intact for the refresh BROKEN BEATER PARTS WITH VARIOUS UNIQUE FAILURES, included on various beater configs PRE-DAMAGED AND PRE-DETACHED PARTS, included on the junkyard, beater, WIP restoration and other configurations REALISTIC DERBY AND BANGER RACING PARTS, included on banger configurations, and derby ones split between 5 classes per vehicle POLICE, TAXI, FIRE CHIEF AND OTHER SPECIALIZED VEHICLE PARTS, INCLUDING HIGHLY CUSTOMIZABLE REALISTIC LIGHT BARS, included on police, sheriff, detective and FBI configurations OFF-ROAD SUSPENSIONS AND ACCESSORIES, included on off-road configs LOWRIDER SUSPENSION, REALISTIC AND EXTREME, with dedicated configurations TUNER, RESTOMOD AND CUSTOM PARTS, included on various configurations ALL ENGINES ON ALL CARS ARE HEAVILY CUSTOMIZABLE WITH A LOT MORE SWAPPABLE PARTS THAN YOU CAN FIND ON VANILLA VEHICLES VARIOUS CONFIGURATIONS ARE POP CULTURE REFERENCES TO VARIOUS MOVIES, TV SERIES, VIDEO GAMES, POPULAR TUNING STYLES, FAMOUS YOUTUBER BUILDS OR OTHER FAMOUS INTERNET CARS, MANY OF THEM HAVE THEIR OWN DEDICATED PARTS. They are not always the exact same model of the car, but look close enough Some configurations are also detailed recreations of cars that some developers of this mod own or have seen in real life The mod continues its tradition of huge variety, but now adds realistic factory configuration on top of that, with attention to detail when it comes to various small parts equipped on each configuration, in order to make them feel true-to-life. Thank you so much! I've been watching you progress through this awesome project for the past few years, and slowly but surely, you eventually created this masterpiece. I can't wait for it to progress even more. Now let's just wait for the Simulator Adventures video!
This is great! Two bugs I've noticed are that the 307 base coupe with the 3-speed automatic (the grey one) actually has a 350ci engine, and all of the Custom Cruiser Diesels seem to be doing a squat with the stock suspension.
