hello, I was wondering if I could create subfolders within the mod folder? It's like separating the map mods, the vanilla cars, and other mods into separate folders under the repo folder. If that's not possible, is there a way I can do it? Thanks.
There are mod managers which use symbolic links to a mod folder but the mods are stored in another folder. I don’t know if they work with BeamNG but they should.
Yes, it is possible to have subfolders in your mods folder. BeamNG finds and loads mods from them. The paths in the mod packs are absolute and always from downwards the userfolder. So the place where the mod is, has technically no influence to the path structure of the mod. But this is not documented as a normal procedure and I dont know if there are side effects, e.g from the BeamNGs mod manager or repository binding or steam or scripting. Unfortunately it has no effect on the sorting order in the vehicles menu. I personally would love this, cause this way you could tide up your vehicles menu a bit. A very hard but working way to have a own default sorting in the vehicles menu, is to go into the mods and open the info.json file. There you can find the brand string of the vehiicle. If you place e.g. a number in front of it, you can force a different self made sorting criteria. Any mod update will destroy it again, though. I've added an "x" to the beginning of the brand name of all my aircraft and ships. This separates them from the regular cars and makes them appear as their own group in my vehicle selection menu. This works very well for me .
