I know this game is supposed to be realistic but I wanted to play some of the old maps like Ski jump, but I can't because of the engine over reves when I get to a certain speed. If there is a mod that could do this can you link it for me? Thanks.

just put the clutch down when you hit the top speed, or put it in neutral.

if you put it in neutral then the speed won't be limited. You'll speed up anyway because of gravity so no need to floor it

Flooring it is what's slowing you down. The engine is the weak link, gravity is faster.

But then you dont have the engine taking part

It can't take part, that's the point. Imagine if you decided to hop out and push the car to make it go faster. What would happen?

Is there a way to go into neutral without going into manual? sorry for my weak knowledge of the game.

if you bind a key to the clutch then you should be able to put that down at any time

You could Take the engine out and use the node grabber to pull the front down the hill.
you could also try turning off the engine
Pressing Q turns the vehicle into manual(Q again for automatic iirc)

ok but turning off the engine still overrevs the engine

Unfortunately no, not at this time. As @daniel398767 mentioned you can toggle gearbox behavior modes using Q. Normally I operate in "Arcade" mode and when I need neutral or some other specific gear I switch modes with Q to "Manual" gearbox behavior. For what you are trying to do I'd just switch to "Manual" and manually do all my shifting. Unless you change the default settings, the game will handle the clutch for you so shifting is as simple as pressing the upshift or downshift button/key.
This advice doesn't apply if you're driving an automatic.

No it doesn't, let the engine drop to zero RPM before you go down then node grab it until it rolls down.
Or, again, remove the engine altogether.

Turning off the engine would be even worse. Even if the engine is off, it's still connected to the rest of the drivetrain, and thus still spinning. The only difference here is that, since the engine is off, you have no oil pressure, which means the engine has no lubrication. You also have no cooling. So the engine would quickly overheat and seize.

If you're playing on a keyboard, then just hold Shift while going down the hill

    Then throw it in neutral.
Thought you were smart enough to realize that.

Which car has electric oil pump? I guess there are some with electric water pump, not quite sure how many though.

All engines I have worked with have had mechanical pumps so cooling and lubrication works always when engine turns, but there are these madmans designing cars today that probably ever have had electrical gremlins to deal with, so I think there was some electrical water pump variants.

What OP needs is adjustable gear ratios.

Cooling and lubrication is not the issue. Transmissions and engines have inherent resistance inside them, hence (I think) a contributing factor in driveline power losses. The best thing to do would be to just remove the differential or axle half shafts, but the best you can do in beam is the driveshaft and engine, which would lighten up the car and the resistance. Use nodegrabber to pull it down the hill....

Or, as @fufsgfen said, 300 mph gearing is the bestest (patent pending).
