I tested the parallax successfully today in beamng, the result is very cool!, but, the light and shade are not affected since it is only an illusion. a way to change this would be to integrate the "Relief maping" and "Parallax or Relief shader" he speaks about this on the forum Torque 3d here http://www.garagegames.com/community/forums/viewthread/36211/1 I do not know if in the update of "Beamng" you can include the update of "Torque". but I think it would be a good idea to add it to your library of shaders and effect. you may add more details and realism to your or our creation by eliminating of polygons.
Steep Parallax looks so sick, that's like some tessellation stuff going on right there, I can only imagine it on tiled roads and buildings in BeamNG. Would add to the graphics by 500%.
I think the creators should consider this in their next update it is not new that the tessellation and parallax are the future!
We definitely need a feature like this. Not sure how demanding it would be but it would be great to have! I think my 770 and soon to be 780ti could execute this pretty well.
Parallax was one of the first things I tried. It worked fine, but not really with multiple light sources. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xcbo6ft4816rvi0/Parallax2.jpg So yeah, seeing it improved would be nice.
