parts menu isn't really working right

    when i go to the vehicle part change thing (i forgot what its called) i select a part (not from a mod) it shows like an orange thing on it (again I don't know what i would call it but i will post a photo of it here) so i change the stock in game trucks motor to the 5.5L (from the 4.5L) at it highlights it in orange and it doesn't change any thing still has the 4.5L power and torque....
    this is my first post and hopefully I am doing every thing right...
