Pearlescent Paint

After working with a few materials, I was wondering if it was possible to recreate pearlescent colors such as Reflex Purple seen on many TVRs:



or Ultimate Black Opal, seen on the GT-R SpecV:

 

I'm experimenting a bit here. Sort of works

 

Manually changing the mipmaps on a skin/texture can "fake" this effect. It's not perfect tho.

 

I used colored specular maps for my mod. Works well for both iridescent and pearlescent effect.
