Do you have collision mesh on? You need both, "collisionType" and "decalType" set to "Visible Mesh". Good job btw.
To make the mud deep check the official maps, you need to make an RGB greyscale image like "dry_rock_island.ter.depth.png" for instance. Same as a heightmap.
