Most racing games use a really lame system where if you try to go off the track, it auto resets you, which is both annoying and unrealistic. Others games use a checkpoint system, forcing you to go through certain checkpoints to keep you on track, which is still flawed in its own and allows for cheating in certain areas like shortcuts across terrain, especially in big open areas. What if you guys made a system where if you go off the track, you must get back on the track at the point that you left? Flatout 1 does this and I think it's the best way to do it. Basically an invisible border follows both sides of the track that you destine, and if you cross that border, you must return to the area that you originally left in order to continue the race. Seems the most fair, and you can stretch the border a bit beyond the track of course to allow a little off roading in case that happens. It's a flexible method, so it can be made super strict, or not, if you prefer. It would be nice for users as well to allow us to specify the track area, and even specify shortcuts and alternate routes, etc. I'm not sure how you guys are planning to do the race mode gametype, but I can't wait to see it. I will definitely be buying this when I have the money. Keep it up and awesome job so far ^^
Well, as this is more of a simulation game and not a racing game, I'm sure that it won't have that reset thing but we'll have to wait until the devs can get started on this kind of thing.
