I checked through the bug reports and I haven't found this yet. Occasionally, after a big crash, the entire car including chassis disappears and the game enters debug mode that is impossible to get out of unless you quit the game. Anybody else had this?

This is the physics engine crashing because of instability. We are working on it :)

Seems like an old issue, but i'm getting this too often, it only seem to happen with specific cars, one of them being Ibishu Covet and it happens when car takes lot of damage, even if ramming it with other car, bit by bit, eventually it crashes with the bug described, where vehicle disappears and its impossible to get out of the "debug" mode. i have to quit the level and re-load.

Before purchase, i got it from my friend and tried it out (sry, I wanted to try the game before purchase), i did not have that issue then, but now that i purchased it, downloaded from official site and downloaded the official updates, now i get this problem too often (always with specific cars, so its impossible to destroy those cars). what is going on?

I've seen this too. What triggered it for me was vehicles falling into water. It didn't happen all the time - probably like 5% of the time.

just spam the reset vehicle key and the pause physics key (usually r and j) and it'll reset itself without closing the game.

Did you nuke the old folder? I've never seen this since release day and I've crashed in creative ways.

nuke the old folder? what you mean?
I downloaded the official BeamNG, installed and ran it (no mods at all). As soon as i crashed the covet quite hard, it happend.
Is there some error log i can post here maybe? cuz im sure it did not happen before with the covet (when i was using the version from friend), well i did have the issue sometimes, but it happend very rarely, usually when i crashed some vehicle mod really heavy (like many, many times).

Try deleting the car that has this happen out of the vehicles folder, and then run the update.exe out of the directory BeamNG.Drive in AppData\Local\BeamNG

I think it fixed it, thanks. (i dont have BeamNG in AppData tho, its getting way old. games should always ask where to install, i have 2tb HDD dedicated to games :) )
Not 100% sure tho, i crashed the crap out of covet and it didn't crash the physics engine/game. Will see if it happens again in future. update overwrote some of my mods, but now i know to keep mods in seperate folder so i can re-install them.

I do like that the game is fully self-contained in one folder. I hate it when I tell games to install to D:\ and they still scatter random files all over C:\ anyway.

Offtopic, but can't agree more. I had to buy another SSD because most games keep fucking using my primary SSD for all the temp files and crap and just killing my SSD with all that, so i bought another, smaller and faster SSD and moved my windows /temp/ folder and other temp files onto it.

But yeah, deleting the vehicle folder and using update.exe seem to be fixing this mysterious crash/vehicle disappearence issue.
