I had this idea just now. What about a "realistic freeroam" gamemode with selected maps (ECUSA, JRI, etc) where there was a cop car stationed within a quarter mile of you, and if you left their range they would despawn and spawn another one in your range. then if you did something they would automatically chase you if you were in their sight range. Obviously most computers can only handle 2 or so cars on maps like ECUSA without much lag, so there would be no police backup calls for more cars.
It's not a bad idea‚ and for FPS‚ I'm sure they can make "Low-quality" car with less Jbeam and all‚ but for now it's impossble‚ the AI is to stupid.
Well it's an interesting idea, but it should be optional because some people want to drive like morons at 140 at all times. And the AI obviously can't even handle a square track, much less complicated road systems, you could easily escape. But with some tweaking, that could be very interesting.
I would also like to see the police use real-world pursuit tactics such as the PIT maneuver, for example: [SKIP TO 1:09] Also, I would like to see the police act like they know what they're doing, such as if you're stopped after they pit you, they will stop.
Woa woa woa lets not get ahead of ourselves, a good percentage of beam players can use 3 or more cars without much of a problem, so the despawn/respawn idea is good, but backup could be enabled and disabled, maybe a varying "wanted rating" which increases the aggression of the police and brings 1 or 2 more cars into the mix. As far as needing a lower jbeam car just to make this work... no. If you cant handle 2 cars at once then dont enable this feature.
I like this idea. It would also like to see the AI get smarter, like avoiding other cars rather than crashing head on at 100 mph.
While we're at it, can we just have the bastard child of BeamNG.Drive and GTA Online already? That would be my dream game. More on topic, what if the cops only chased you if you were wanted or speeding/breaking other traffic laws? Assign speed limits to roads, etc
I'm surprised that nobody jumped to say how impossible it is, i remember threads like this were literally full with people saying it's impossible or things like that... I mean really now, it isn't that impossible.. Besides on a map like ECA or JRI they could add cars here and there to act as traffic that uses the same "respawn/despawn" and have a simplified jbeam
3 or more cars on a high fps map like GridMap or infinite grid. If I run 3 cars on ECUSA, on my FPS version, I only get around 30 fps when I get around 60 with 1 car and 50 with 2. 30 fps is not that great when you are used to 60.
Well if someone is driving like a moron at 140 the police wouldnt be able to catch them very easily now would they(unless you mean 140 KPH in which case yeah... even the burnside police car driven by the AI might be a problem...)
Similified jbeam wouldnt be as easy as you might think. Maybe there could be placeholder vehicles that are just a jbeam box with colision that looked like a police car and drove around and hit you with the weight of a car if your thinking about something like that. Not realistic at all but it would work if you just wanted something to try to ram you off the road to give you a challenge with more than 3 chase vehicles at a time.
It's not impossible and in fact I am sure the OP and following suggestions are already dancing around in the heads of the devs. It's the usual WHEN something like this can be feasible. No doubt this sort of game behavior will be mere pocket change in the ultimate design plans for this game.
That is a neat concept, although, adding that now, would not be smart. Why? Because the game/engine still has to go through various stages of optimization, and adjustments, meaning, this won't happen in the near future...
