I think the powertrain app should be redesigned to look more visually appealing. The current design looks unorganized and is somewhat unappealing.

The lines should be straight, things should line up and there needs to be order in the layout.

Yeah, not easy. There is quite a bit of tech behind that to even make it look like this. Its using force directed graphs to pull the elements to some point that makes sense. Every car might be different, so it's impossible to find a drivetrain layout that fits all. For that reason, the UI is super dynamic.

And think about something else than cars, how about vehicle with tracks, or one with many wheels which some are driven, some are not.

To make it really interesting, try to create a Robson device, (roll between two axles on trucks, that when is activated gets pushed against tires and creates drive to both axles without need of another differential or driveshaft).I think that is possible, if you set some hydraulics and extra pair of tires, you push tire against real tires or something like that, just an example which would be interestingly challenging to visualize by code.

It's cool to find out how stuff works behind the scenes, but disappointing to know how hard it would be to change the layout.

The Concept of the Driveline as is, is good enough, all your suggesting is trying to reinvent the wheel its a nice idea but for the time being its not practical....
