http://www.motortrend.com/news/robotics-expert-predicts-kids-born-today-will-never-drive-car/ "...you’re not even going to own a car..."
What about people living in semi rural areas such as myself. I cannot be bothered reading the article as it sounds a tad click-baity.
The general concept of subscription replacing ownership makes my blood boil anyway. Apply it to cars and mix in some autonomy, and it's worse. Much worse.
There will be a civil war. when the government took slavery away, the dickheads who owned them rebelled. in 20 years if you try to take my 90s economy car because it isn't self driving I'm rebelling. unless we get hoverboards. I'm cool with that.
But wouldn't there be a mass selling out of all the cars? Like, who wants a normal car when you can buy a self driving car? And what about normal car companies? Tesla, Mercedes, and Google have all gotten into the car buisness. Personally, I think that self-driving cars are not ready for the market in 10-15 years. Even so, there are some big problems like ethnics. All self driving cars would be ethnically programmed differently and you would have no control when the cars are fully autonomous. It is pretty scary too. Another thing is gun fight or bombs. I am pretty sure that they would not reconize the bombs or guns and just stay where they are. Places in the middle east would probably would make the thing worse because self driving cars would not know there is a grenade inside or guns shooting at the car.
AFAIK google won't make their self driving cars into one isolated brand. They would give access to other brands.
But I bet if they do that then it would say Google in the car everywhere just to let you know it came from Google.
if they decide to take away petrol vehicles (anything that runs on Gas or Diesel) and non autonomous vehicles, i'm gonna rebel
That would take too long. there are billions of fossil fueled cars. the world economy can't bare that burden. gas stations will exist for a LONG time.
Well again there would be more greenhouse gasses and we only have about as much oil to last us 53.3 years which is pretty low so by 2060, we will have cars run by water.
To make money of course. Besides on the topic at hand, while self driving cars work well in closed situations in the real world you'll just have a cluster fuck of daft robots bumping into each other. They just aren't smart enough yet and it will be a long, long time before they are even on the roads never mind replacing human drivers.
