"At least you're insured, then." --- Post updated --- "When do you guys think the storm's gonna pass?" --- Post updated --- Rain continued to pour, some areas were flooded, lightning struck trees... Eventually, the rain began to ease off.
So I decided with nothing else to do, I'd tear apart the 423 CID V8 and at least get it ready for aftermarket parts. Little did I know, after pulling the heads and oil pan, this engine already has a forged bottom end. Why? Don't ask me, I didn't think it was factory but it also looks like it's never been opened up, indicating that there's a good chance that it's factory. I decided to do my research then and there in case it wound up being a rare engine that I was pulling apart. It wasn't rare, but rather it was a Gavril truck or van motor, coming with four bolt mains and the forged bottom end, where as the Barstow I thought it came out of had neither. So now I hopped on Peak.com (knock-off Summit) and started ordering parts: a fat solid roller cam and lifters, roller rockers, aftermarket bolts for throughout the engine, high clearance valve covers, and headers. I couldn't find a set of DCOE carbs so I migrated to Gabeslist to source a used set, which I managed to find locally, but for a hefty price. As soon as all the parts arrive, it will be time to bolt them all on and stab the engine in.
Hm... idk who said that... but still. IDK what happened to this place. --- Post updated --- *Looks at rear-view mirror --- Post updated --- *Firwood ETK fly passed by with sirens on Wonder whats th- *See a wonderful house wow
(it's crazy how a single post can change everything, especially when someone casually announces a storm) Another storm in Firwood? They said the storm was brutal, so those new houses by the shore could get damaged... Currently searching beamslist. Before I spend all of my money on a new family car I will sell the ETK (all the engines i found were really expensive).
By now, the storm had passed. I walked out to my Bluebuck, took off the cover and got inside The ceiling had leaked a little. The seats were damp. I decided I would get it fixed later. I drove back to my house. A couple of windows had been smashed by falling trees, like the ones laying about on the side of the road. Jetties and other deckings were broken apart completely "What a mess..."
I mean I had only "lived" there for a couple days so \_(o-o)_/ Does anyone live here? If not yay (RP bit of my post) The storm has past, and so far, all is somewhat ok. A giant acorn smashed one of my windows and the Barstow has some damp where the rain got through the panel gaps. The Pessima was parked in town so it was safe and suffers no damage. I call this a success!
(my man how big is that flippin' acorn) Well, the only damage to my house was a little leak in my roof, so I just went into town and Flex Tape'd that thing back together. The Bluebuck and the truck are fine, just some small tree debris and whatnot. I drove the Bluebuck to the hardware store, it's as safe as it will ever be, albeit technically not road legal. I'll have to figure out registration soon enough. I wonder when @zestyfolfdude will be coming to Firwood.
