This is the Burnside from Rigs of Rods. I began working on this project in late 2021/early 2022 as part of an initiative to bring over some content from RoR, mostly maps. While far from perfect, I figure it's finally 'good enough' to do a forum release. Unlike most other ports from this game, I wanted to keep this as close to the original as possible:

Using the frame and drivetrain from the Moonhawk as a base, I've managed to bring over the original body N/B structure along with the coupe, convertible, wagon, and limousine body styles. There's also a special pickup version, created in 2013 by Charger. The pickup wasn't part of the original pack.

    Permissions
Three months ago, I made a post on r/BeamNG showcasing the Burnside. Initially wasn't planning on releasing this as I assumed acquiring permission from gabester would've been impossible. That changed when a few kind folks there seemingly confirmed he's fine with this, hence this thread's creation:

Since I don't have a direct quote from him, I'll have to take their word for it

    Credits
    • gabester - The Burnside itself
    • BeamNG team - Moonhawk frame/engine/drivetrain
    • Charger - Pickup version, rear bumper plate
    • CuriousMike (myself) - BeamNG port
    Known issues
    • Lack of PBR materials. I wasn't able to get them working correctly. You can find my attempt in the newtex folder.
    • 'Jagged edges' visible when looking up close in some areas, mostly around the back window area. This is a result of my lack of experience with textures (and modding BeamNG in general lol). So far nothing I've tried has improved this.
    • As expected, Deformation isn't up to standard compared to official vehicles.
    • Police and Taxi liveries are only compatible with the sedan variant.
    • Pickup version's back fenders use a different UV map.
    • Bunch of other small things not listed here.
Hopefully you all can find enjoyment in this despite its problems.

if someone could get the PBR materials working this would be a 10/10 as i love bigass american "muscle cars"
    otherwise it's around a 7/10

It's nice to see some of gabester's Rigs of Rods vehicles being brought over to BeamNG (with permissions or some form of acknowledgement of course). First, it was the Gavril Bandit from Atomix, and now we have the Burnside pack to complement, this time from another well-known community member. It definitely brings back nostalgia for me and anyone that is familiar with the free, open-source vehicle simulator predating this one :)

Glad to finally see this ROR classic in BeamNG, I remember someone ported the Gavril Bandit into BeamNG years ago but sadly it's long out of date.

Very nice mod! Thank you for bringing this here!
I used to see a lot of videos about RoR crashes compilation and cars:

    I have some questions:

    1) Will you make other car packs from RoR?
    2) Will this mod have openable parts?
    3) Will be there other updates or this is definitive update?

While i get the configuration list resembling the ROR one, it would be nice to just have more factory configs and to have the configs sorted in some way

it also needs a name, seeing Burnside in the selector seems kinda weird

Even if it’s just in the selector. Not even in the car itself
