i want some crazy rotary engine swaps for the t-series (yes the semi truck) and stiffened supension to make it driftable..... ( #Rotary4dayz )

Honestly you could make a mod like that in a few minutes easily except for the sound, and the engine model, the actual engine performance would be extremely easy and the suspension would also be easy to do, but you would need a lot more to make it driftable.

i mean driftable, not like a drift car.

I still think it wouldn't really be able to drift, it has too much grip in the rear I would think, I might mess around with it though if I remember to(and might post the edits I made here, but I don't know how to make different parts show up in the menu.)

You could make it drift, but it would be kinda like a bus if you were to try and make it drift; It would try and flip itself.

I've decided that I am going to attempt something like this, but as I said before it will have the default engine sounds.
That just means you need less grip :p

if you want to wankelise any car in beam then id choose the 200BX. would suit more as a rotary irl struggles with heavy cars. hence the rx8 and 7 being so light

The wankel (mazda rotaries are in fact *NOT* rotary engines), insane power to weight, very little torque though :/

They have very low torque, you'd need a massive wankel engine to move the T-series.

    they're awesome... briefly.

    There's a reason rotary engines aren't used.

Good luck getting the T75 sideways, I don't think its structurally or physically possible to get a good drift out of it.

From my experience messing around trying to drift it I found out many things, the first being that I have no clue how to drift, the second was that I know nothing about how rotary engines perform, and the third was that semi-trucks don't make good drift cars, and the fourth being that I don't understand gearing at all. Every time I tried to drift it with the way I had it tuned it would under-steer, then over-steer, then just slides around for a while in a straight line, until eventually spinning out, I tried drifting it around hirochi raceway, but it was too long and uncontrollable.

Wankel engines as they are correctly referred to (rotary engines are in fact a typical piston type engine pretty unique to aviation and closely related to the radial engine, not the engine mazda uses and commonly referred to as rotaries) do have pretty insane power to weight ratios.

They are very compact, very lightweight, incredibly smooth delivery of what torque they do have and insane rev limits. No extra moving parts beyond the rotors and "crank"shaft.

They suck for emissions, the rotor and apex seals are very prone to wear and premature failure, they are not very fuel efficient and they now outright fail EU and US emissions tests.
Their compression ratios are also pretty poor, so much so that so far nobody has managed to make a diesel wankel without forced compression, aka, a sodding great supercharger fucking forcing that chamber pressure upwards, it was done experimentally once. Although to be fair, diesel doesnt really burn fast enough to make the most of a higher rev limit and wankels already have issues with unburnt fuel (partly why there is more than one spark plug in the combustion chamber of most wankels).

Honestly I thought that was what he meant at first.
So, basicly they are great engines restricted mostly by stupid enviromental laws?

restricted by environmental laws, lifespan, fuel economy and torque

don't get me wrong, I find them highly interesting, but I don't think they have a great future

But... lets pretend we don't have to worry about that :)

I mean, lets not concentrate on weather its practical or not, lets think about why the hell not give it a try? Could be pretty cool while even still stepping inside the realm of being possible!

Take a look at this! This could power the DrifT-Series ;)

    http://admin.epicinter.net/epic/thi...rotary-engine-is-completely-insane/#more-8072

and finally, since this is about a drifting semi truck...

There is a better video out there, but I can't find it so this will have to do...

    *wankel.

While i would love wanker engines, first we should ask for the dev team to make some easier way to make engine swaps. I suggested having engines take a defined 3d Box size, and have a 3D box size in each car's engine bay, that way you could have the game automatically figure what engine fits where.
