i did my research and there was not thread about this yet.

as i was watching the program texas car wars.
i was thinkin, man that rust realley gives an old car his charm.

    so i was thinking.
because we have a career mode and with money it will take longer to get a new car.

so what if the cars get rusty after a while?

    i mean.

u can make a dynamic dirt system (if that is what it is)
why cant you do the same with rusT?

(or am i thinking wrong now?)

That would be very cool, but I think it might already be implemented.

The only problem I see with this is you would need to have a car for a VERY long time before it starts rusting. So it would only be on cars that are already old. I think it would be cool if the rust made the car weaker.

Maybe have a click and drag the bit you want to rust. By a rust tool and you set the bar to how rusty you want it. Then the beam get eating away making the car look like crap and weaker . Hint hint crashy crashy:D;)

I would somehow be tempted to rust things to the point the car is falling apart under it's own weight.

Rust would be very easy to add with a UV and a texture opacity, but it would just be a texture, would be awesome if the car falls apart with the rust maybe like ground erosion feature on the body shell?

As Top Gear proved several years ago when they dropped a Hilux from a building cars can be held together somewhat by the body when the chassis splits in half.

This could be simulated by the strenght of the nodes, and beams.

Yesss rust. you could add it to older vehicles if you want and on an old chevy pickup it would make me think that it was real life and not just a game.

I'm guessing that the reflections on the car could be less.. reflective when dirt or rust is added. And just for convenience, it could give some players the chance to run the game maybe a bit smoother if that happend. Less reflections or lower res = more frames me thinks. :p Makes the car more characteristic too..

I think Rust effects and It weakening parts of the car would be an amazing idea and feature in the game. +1

Hmm, I think rust should be implemented later in the game. Not right away, obviously. It will take away precious coding/testing time by the devs. ;p
