Welcome! This is an idea for a DLC for BeamNG that I would like to see in the moderately far future. Update 0.7/0.8 - Safety First! An update including safety systems, car safety scenarios and general car safety-related stuff. Content: Maps: AIRS (American Institute for Road Safety) testing lab - a car safety testing lab with a small overlap impact testing site, moderate overlap impact testing site, head-on impact testing site, side impact testing site, damage assesment lab, kickplate testing site, space for assorted (rollover, moose test, multi-car impact etc.) testing. Vehicles: Jargl ST825 (that was in the concept section before the section got removed, it will probably be like a Volvo 700 Series or 850) - An 80s/90s RWD Swedish wagon. Available in a couple of trims: 2.0 (ca. 115 HP), 2.4 (ca. 140 HP), 2.4 Turbo (ca. 175 HP), 2.4 Turbo Diesel (ca. 115 HP), Custom (2.4 Turbo tuned up to 210 HP, widened wheel arches, Volk rims), Crash Test (2.0, crash test skin). It will be available with a 4-speed automatic (optional in 2.0, 2.4, 2.4 Turbo and 2.4 Turbo Diesel) or a 5-speed manual (standard or optional in other versions), - Nardelli Crash Cart - Nadeox's mod made official. Parts: - Airbags - Select cars will have airbags. Those could be disabled and enabled with the A key. Airbags will deploy an airbag and dust particles when exposed to high enough Gs. Cars with airbags: - Covet - Beater, Race and Rally - no airbags, DX, DXi - driver airbag only, Custom - passenger airbag only, LXi, ZXi, ZXi Special - driver & passenger airbags, - Grand Marshall - Drift Missile - no airbags, Custom - side and passenger airbags only, all others - driver, passenger and side airbags, - H-series - Drift Missile - no airbags, others - driver and passenger airbag, - Sunburst - Race, Rally, Drift Missile - no airbags, Custom - all airbags except driver's front, others - front, front side, curtain and driver's knee airbag, - 200BX - Demon, Race, Drift - no airbags, Base, Type-L - driver and passenger front airbags, Custom - passenger and side airbags, others - front and side airbags, - Roamer - Offroad - passenger and side airbags, I6 - driver and passenger airbags, others - front and side airbags, - '96 Pessima - Custom - passenger and side airbags, all others - front and side airbags, - SBR4 - front, side, curtain and knee airbags, - '89 Pessima - Race, Rally - no airbags, Custom - passenger and side airbags, DX, HX, LX - front airbags, ZX and GTz - front and side airbags, - ETK 800-Series - front, side, curtain and knee airbags, - ETK 2400i - front airbags, - Unknown ETK Coupe - front, side, curtain and knee airbags, - Soliad Wendover and Bruckell LeGran - standard driver and optional passenger airbag, - Jargl ST825 - front and maybe side airbags (Custom has no driver's) - Lane departure warning system and blind spot monitoring - standard in the modern ETKs, SBR4 and Sunbursts: Sport, Sport S, Sport RS and Custom (except cop variants). The systems have: - wing mirror LED lights - turn on when an object is by the side of the vehicle, - dashboard warning light - turns on when vehicle drives out of the road lanes, - sound warning - beeping while the wing mirror light or dashboard light turns on, - automatic steering (only in the ETKs) - turns the vehicle back into the lane after going out of it. The system has 4 modes: Off, Light, Light+Sound Warning, Light+Sound Warning+Automatic Steering. In hard enough collisions it will break and stop working. - Automatic braking - the car brakes hard automatically when it detects an object near enough. It disables automatically at low speeds and can be completely disabled manually. It is mounted in the modern ETKs, SBR4 and Sunbursts: Sport S, Sport RS and Custom (except police variants). When activates, it makes a beep and shows a dashboard light. When the car is damaged enough, it will break and stop working. - Parking sensors - at low speeds, they detect the proximity of near objects and beep: the closer the object is, the higher is the beep frequency. They can be turned off. Cars in which they are: - rear - Sunburst Sport, - front and rear - all Sunbursts except Base, comp varianta and Sport, SBR4, modern ETKs. They can also be added to all vehicles in the config menu. After the car getting enough damage, they will break. - Cameras - at low speeds, a view from a camera will show up on the car's infotainment screen. The cameras can be disabled. They can be damaged to the point where they do not work. Cars with them: - rear only - Sunburst Sport S, Sport RS, Police and Custom, SBR4, ETK coupe in 4-cyl trim, 4-cylinder ETK 800-Series, - all around view - 6-cyl ETK 800-Series and coupe. Scenarios: - The Frontal Impact - You have to do a moderate overlap crash test in the Jargl at a speed between 37 and 43 MPH. If you do not do this, you fail. - The Side Impact - You are a crash cart and have to crash into the side of a Grand Marshall at 28-34 MPH or you fail. - Instability Control - There are 3 variants - RWD (with a 200BX Type-LS), FWD (with a 2.0 LX Pessima) and AWD (with a 4x4 V8 Roamer). You have to drive at 50 MPH into a kickplate, which then activates and sends you sliding over water. If you damage the car or get out of the designated area, you fail. - A Lesson To Learn - You are driving a stanced Pessima. The game is giving you hints on how to drift through a corner, which are actually wrong and will lead you into crashing the car into a ditch, which in turn makes you pass. If you successfully make it through the corner, you fail. - The Moose With A Twist - A moose test in a T75 Cement Mixer. If you damage the car or get out of the designated area, you fail. - Utah's Worst Driver - You have to drive an SBR4 through Utah and get 20 collective seconds of blind spot monitoring and lane departure warning warnings at a speed over 40 MPH. If you crash the car, you fail. - It Is Completely Safe - You are in the ETK coupe and there is a truck in front of you. You have to keep the accelerator pressed until the end, when the automatic braking activates and you pass. - The Hardest Parking - This scenario is interior view only. You are in an ETK 856t with blacked out windows. You have to maneuvre and park the car using only the all-around camera view. Parking makes you pass. What do you think of it? Sorry for the long post, but I only wrote the most necessary things.
I would absolutely love the blind spot and lane departure warning systems, automatic braking, and the parking sensors. If only things in the interior were clickable, that would be awesome! "I'm purposely crashing this Covet into you, car, okay?!" Then you would turn off the parking sensors.
I said those things could be disabled. And doing such a crash using the ETK interior cam would be nice. You would look into your rear window and listen to the parking sensor beeps heralding your bumper's impending doom.
Kind of an information overload, and some of the features described in the thread didn't need to be written, but overall i think that this would be a fantastic feature update (i technically dont think it would be a DLC until the game is fully relased). Having something like TrackIR or VR support in the game would mean that the rear cams become really useful if your comuter cant handle PiP on the mirrors.
Covet HAS NO AIRBAGS. Grand Marshel ONLY has driver's and passenger's airbags. 200BX does NOT have a passenger airbag NOR any side airbags for ANY of their models. Roamer has NO SIDE AIRBAGS. '96 Pessima has NO SIDE AIRBAGS '89 ONLY has driver's airbag for HX, LX, ZX, and GTz. and there are no side airbags nor passenger airbags Airbags should ONLY be disabled if the Airbag Deployment module, or the Airbag is damaged or missing
