Hey guys, I'm making little first-intial letters for my family and in-laws with little hooks. I've cut them all with a plasma cutter and I've been cleaning them off with CLR lime away. now I'm wanting to sand them so you get the cleaner/shinier finish. my progress without sanding: (and the R is the only one that has been cleaned) I found this sander in the garage, never used. will it work more or less to do what I'm wanting?
There are a bunch of YouTube videos that deal with this kind of thing, mostly blacksmiths and other tradesmen, but some quick Google searches usually help decipher any unfamiliar terminology or technology. I'd only try it if they demonstrate their technique though.
Yep, use a very fine grit sand paper though 1200 grit or up, only sand in one direction too because you will get lines in the metal being harder to see the finer grit paper you use and get some good metal polish and buff it to a nice shine. Working with vintage audio equipment I do this a lot on turntable platters and the metal face plates of amplifiers and receivers. always come up shiny after one or two coats of polish Example I always use.
