I downloaded beamNG and tried it on high settins but was laggy, i wanted to try all things on lowest settings for the best fps possible to me, however when i put all settings on lowest and click 'apply' my game crashes. Does anyone know what this could be? Help appreciated, Thanks Sam.

Shaders, leave Shaders on low. Setting them to lowest will crash the game.

Also, for a better experience, make sure to uncheck "enable postfx system" in the left side dialog to get more FPS. Changing model and texture detail has almost exactly zero impact on FPS, may as well leave them on normal/high. And in any racing game you really want anisotropic filtering (sometimes abbreviated AF) to be at least 4x so that the road doesn't turn into a blurry mess 4 feet away from you, which is good because that setting also has about a 1-3 FPS impact. If you still lag on vegetated maps, open the editor (F11), click on the eye in the top middle (should say something about toggling visibility) find groundcover, and click on it so that there's a not allowed symbol next to it. All of the small 3d grass should disappear.
