Hello and welcome to my first mod: The Skoda Fabia/ Roomster Pack (2006 - 2014) This is my first attempt to make a BeamNG mod, a Skoda Fabia II. It is a meshslap, but with almost every part edited and with an accurate JBeam. But yes, it´s still a meshslap. Since then, the mod has been completly reworked. You can download both versions, they work independent from each other. Pictures: Features: - high quality model - edited JBeam - working filament lights - 38 configurations - 3 different body styles (pre-facelift, facelift, roomster) - "vRS" and "Monte Carlo" trims: Now to the technical part: Also the mod features full openable doors, hood and tailgate: Now, let the credits roll. - BeamNG.drive developers for some textures and models - GTAInside.com for the 3d model - me: everything else Have a nice day! And of course enjoy my mod Schmitti "Fabia_schmiit_final" is the legacy version of the mod. The one with "rework" is the rework, which includes the new stuff!
Some things, I forgot to mention: for some reason the clear coat does not work, even, if a dds image exists, no change is visible. I try, to figure it out asap, but help in any form is welcomed.
Hey, glad to see someone getting started actually modding. I figured I'd try to help you with these bugs, as I've had to fight them myself. First, your STEERING WHEEL POSITION: In Blender, (or whatever modeling software you use) you'll want to ensure the object origin is close to where the real-life wheel would attach to the steering column. In this picture, the object origin is the orange dot. When you "apply transforms" in Blender, it moves the object origin to global x0, y0, z0, (where all the axis lines intersect, red X and green Y are visible in the picture, blue Z intersects at the same point) so if you want the origin to stay where you put it relative to the wheel, it's easiest if you put the wheel model itself at global x0, y0, z0, facing up (like in the picture). That way when you make and apply changes to the rest of the model, your steering wheel origin won't move back to global x0, y0, z0. (It will, but it won't mess things up anymore...) Secondly, there is a .Jbeam file that tells the game where to put the steering wheel model. It should be called "YourMod_steeringwheels.jbeam" or something like that. Inside that file is a section called "Props" that will look something like this: (Sorry it's really tiny, I couldn't zoom in or some of the text would be covered up by the edges of my screen... lol... You should be able to click the image to see a larger version) Anyway, you've got to change "baseRotation" and "baseTranslation," but don't change anything else. Anyway, you've just got to mess with those numbers until the wheel is where you want it, and it spins how you want it to. Here is the wiki about Props, it's very helpful once you have a basic understanding of the concept. https://documentation.beamng.com/modding/vehicle/sections/props/ Now for your GLASS BEING OPAQUE: You need what's called an "Opacity Map". It's an image file that should look something like this: You've just gotta make sure that it lines up exactly with your window model UVs or you'll have clear spots and opaque spots on your windows. As for your taillight models not appearing, it could be loads of things, but I'd bet it's some form of Jbeam error. Basically just make sure that... You have the Mesh properly named in the Flexbodies section of your .Jbeam (Blender name should match the Jbeam name) The properly-named Mesh is assigned to a node Group That Group actually has nodes in it that are correctly-placed, and the Group name is the same in both the Nodes and Flexbodies sections Here is the wiki for Flexbodies, again it can be incredibly helpful for identifying weird issues. https://documentation.beamng.com/modding/vehicle/sections/flexbodies/ I hope this helps, and I hope you continue learning how to mod and improving your mods!
Genuinely, I am really surprised to see someone be so helpful and not hating on someone making their first mod. Good on you, rare Forum W
First of all: Thank you oioioioo, for helping me in such a detailed way! Now to the new progress: - I fixed the steering wheel position, thanks to oioioioo - I added all necessary driving and safety electronics to the car - I baked completly custom made textures for the car Sadly, some issues came along, with this: - the new textures have no working metallic effects, if anyone know the problem, the picture is attached below. - the taillights wont appear, I tried my best to do so - I made a custom glass texture, but when applying them in the opacity map, the glass on the car turns black. - The Clear coat isn't working, even with custom textures... I also got in touch with JBeaming, but my edited JBeam for the car is full of clippings and overlappings. If I have the time, I will make an entierly new (or atleast try to do so...) All in all, thats it for today. Greetings, Schmitti
I made new progress, but the message is awaiting moderator approval since more than one day. I'm hoping for the best.
Little update: The Progress, I uploaded on Wednesday isn´t still approved by the moderators, so here comes a little summary, of what I did: - added driving and safety electronics - fixed the steering wheel position - added custom made textures to the car (only the main texture for now) - added finally the taillights Today, I will be working on the glass texture. Greetings, Schmitti
