Hello, My HDD's read speeds seem really slow.(WD10EZRX) (0.739 MB/s/0.761) on "Random 4KiB, Queues=32, Threads=1" test with settings: 2 Tests, 1GiB Test Size and 0Fill/no 0Fill) I have noticed CS:GO was stuttering from time to time(started doing that 3-4 months ago), but when I chaged the game's directory, it stopped. Is it on it's way out? WD Blues manage 2.2, Blacks- 2.7.
I don't know alot about HDDs, but there's a chance its dying. It could just be something like being fragmented, so you can try defragging it, or if you're willing, reformat it and reinstall Windows
I forgot to mention I moved to game to my SSD(Windows is on it- SU800 256GB). No other symptoms- it's quiet, no errors... Edit: And it was defragged around a month ago. IObit SmartDefrag- Defrag+Prioritising Files 00:37 here, that's why I am forgetting to write stuff.
No worries about the time. We all forget stuff. As for the HDD, chances are it's going out, one way or another. WD HDDs are good, but nothing lasts forever. If you have one, you could try it in another PC, and see if the story is the same there, or as I said before, try reformatting it. But I've heard of bad HDDs completly dying after a format, so that's your choice. That's the limit of my help though really. I know nothing about HDDs, to the point of 'Random 4KiB, Queues=32, Threads=1" test with settings: 2 Tests, 1GiB Test Size and 0Fill/no 0Fill) and IObit SmartDefrag- Defrag+Prioritising Files meaning little to me. (I know the defrag bit atleast, so I'm not completly useless) Hope you figure something out atleast
SSD's are pretty much better in almost everyway. Only problem is they're still pretty new tech, and therefore expensive
The Prioritize files part is a setting- Analyze, Fast Defrag, Defrag & Optimize, Large File Defrag, Free Sapce Defrag and then Defrag&Prioritize Files(Slow).
I mean, while it's not quite as late here as it is there, it is 11PM. So consider that flying over my head. I'm sure I'll figure out some of it by tomorrow though
