This will likely take much longer: we've done a good amount of work already, and there's lots of work ahead still, so we'll see :)

Why not release an optional beta version in-game for people to try? Even if it's not finished, I'm sure the new tire model is somewhat more realistic than the old one, no?

earliest would probably be v0.37 or v0.38, and the latest would probably be v0.40 or v0.41

EDIT: OK, maybe way after what I guessed, like way after, like 2027

I don't understand how people can throw out 0.37 or "latest 0.41 educated guess" (how is that educated in any way?). Absolutely ridiculous.
This is an on-going development and a tire model as detailed as they are looking to create takes A LOT of time.
It's being shown to the community so we know that things are being worked on because tire thermals/physics were talked about a long time ago.
So to keep people up-to-date, we've gotten a glimpse into why it's taking so long, what goes into it and what the vision is. That's all.

wait, hold up. a lot of time? I assume you mean by 2027 or 2028

and when you said my guess was ridiculous, I'm so sorry about that :p, never knew these things took forever

Yep exactly, that's the idea behind Early Access: that we release something as early as we can.

Currently there's nothing in a usable state that could be released. But still, we want to share a bit of the behind-the-scenes of our tire development process, hence the blog post and video :)

That's awesome to see! I love seeing behind-the-scenes stuff like this, and wonderful news that the tire models are getting some love as it was probably the most outdated part of the game.

I'd love to see the guy's reaction to someone at BeamNG putting a 1930s white wall, a truck duallie, or a square tire on their machine :p

hell yeah, love to see progress on tyre physics and thermals. tho, isn't it going to mess up a ton of configurations ingame? maybe we'll also get new tyre 3D models and types? probably overthinking, but idk, cant wait for tyre update

Wonderful news)! Tell me, will there be any improvements to the wheel tire architecture? Or everything will be done on the existing low-polygon "hexagonal" model)?

Would it be possible to include some things so that modders can make their own tires based on the new improved data more easily, rather than guessing?
