Hello everyone, I have tried out some of the BeamNG Snow maps and while thoroughly enjoyable I remembered another Driving / Racing Game that I have installed that also had a 'Snow' effect on selected tracks. However, this is only a suggestion which could help in getting a different look to maps that have Snow. Screenshots below that I have taken in game for possible reference showing ground cover, tire marks, tree cover, Sky coloring etc. ....just a suggestion
Just did another race on the snow in Tuskany for some other Snow screenshot visuals. Below are some more overall scenic landscape visuals to give possible ideas for a medium snow dump but still showing some foliage detail etc and snow melting when the sun comes out on the road surfaces ...and some close ups of the snow buildup on the cars, although it looks like a fine paint splatter, the shapes and where the snow builds up looks convincing....well to me anyway...lol ...again just a suggestion
I think this will eventually come. I know they were working on weather transitions at one point (lua code), but it's incomplete and buggy. But once Vulkan is nice and stable, I think they might start focusing on these suggestions (weather, scratches, and some others). It would be great to have some snow
Thank you for taking the time to respond 'vulcan-dev' I suppose it's easy for me to suggest this type of thing as I personally do not know the complexity of code that must be created to get this look, but there does not need to be a weather transition so to speak, as there is already 'Snow' modded maps and I personally like this idea to just load up the snow map and drive around.....the above images are just showing a less white Snow look which I personally think allows the landscape to be seen still showcasing the awesome work the Map Artists create. The same could be said for scratches showing up over time on vehicles, having a finished modded vehicle that has a Rusty, Scratched, Barn Find patina that you can choose from a variety of vehicles within the group appeals to me more and BeamNG does this well. Having a great variety within the vehicles, Barn Find, Used look, Rusty patina as well as other variants, Maps with different looks and weathered surfaces, eg Snow (as above) that you can just load up and enjoy immediately.. .... this is BeamNG's strength and uniqueness .....all the flashy transitional weather, scratch, snow buildup effects can wait, personal opinion only --- Post updated ---
Some more reference shots, this time in the late evening almost night. A mountain range, hills in the distance. The run off on the side of a Race Track, whether it is grass or sand underneath the snow but shows tire marks, ridges etc
