I saw someone asking about this years ago on the forum, so, here I am. I've done quite a few cars so far : I'm looking to make skins for all the vanilla cars. I'm thinking about making a snowy police skin for the Marshal (and maybe Bastion aswell), and I usually do 2-3 cars a day. I will also make skins for the travel trailer and truck trailers. After I've released the mod you can contact me if you want me to make a skin for any mods, like the Vertex or other popular ones. I plan to, just want to see which ones you guys would want the most. Everything applies with a single click - the tires, windows, and main skin. All you have to do is apply the skin to the car and change the secondary (or third) color to white so the snow shows up. Yeah, I've learned how to make these colorable! A few more screenshots taken on the snowy East Coast USA map : Anyway, I'm hoping to have this out by Christmas. What do ya'll think?
Looks great so far! I have two suggestions: - Add clear spots to the side windows like the windshield and back window have, typically you wouldn't want to drive around with those covered - It looks a little strange having snowy tires right next to clean rims. I don't know if it's possible to skin rims, but maybe a soft edge on the tire skin? so it looks more like you drove through snow rather than just white tires. Overall very impressive, I can't wait for these! I love that they're colorable, makes me think I could use them as dirt skins too and match any map's terrain color.
its looks good would have loved it if the snow could just fall off when breaking but i think im asking for too much good luck dude
To doDeca : - I won't be doing interior textures since the outside and interior glass textures overlap, ending up looking quite ugly. - Skinning all the rims will probably take a lot of effort, but I'll look into it. Tbh, the tires are enough for me. - The snow on the windows is not colorable, so you can't really use them as dirty skins. I am working on a dirty skins mod as well, and I will be coming back to it once I'm done with this one. To Ayoub : I did make the some of the snow fall off the windshield when it breaks (nothing fancy, just changed the damaged texture a bit). I have no modelling or jbeam experience so making more than that would be near impossible for me at the moment. Now, an update : H-series is almost done, all I have left to do is the box truck variant. I have also made snowy skins for the taxi and police Grand Marshal. On the right are all the snowy cars and their variations that I have made so far.
This looks great, it will be great for parked vehiles in the map, but there should be more winter maps being made.
Sorry for the delay - I've taken a break from the mod since I was pretty much working on it on a daily basis. That dedication kinda wore off - but not completely. I've been feeling pretty biased, so I've started working the modern cars aswell. The Bastion is done for now :
Sorry for the delay - I've gotten back to working on this mod, and for the next month I'm going to be putting a lot more effort into it, so I can have it out by December 24. Now, there are some cars that might not make it to the final version, like the T-series, the box truck variants and stuff like the Hirochi Aurata and Trophy Truck. Some of those are harder to skin, some of those I don't really have an interest in. Still, that doesn't mean I won't be coming back to them. I will probably focus on the T-series once I have the mod out, and once I have more time. The recent update has made skinning it harder. I'll skin the trailers too. Of course, I also have an update for you :
Great job, I hope that their will be more snowy maps for x-mas, together with this mod, it would be a nice xmas present ;>)
I am really looking forward to this! One question I have is, are the skins compatible with vehicles that have facelifted parts, like the Roamer, D-Series, H-Series, vehicles like that?
Not really? It works with the D-series, H-series and Roamer, but not with the Moonhawk. I couldn't find any way to make it work in fact... It only works with the 1978 facelift...
I don't know why, but now that we have the Bruckell Nine, that would give me Mafia 2 vibes covered with this snow.
But could you add spots where the snow has been wiped off of the driver and passenger front windows? A soft edge on the tires would be nice, too. The tires do look out of place. Maybe just have it fade to black right before it touches the rim.
To bussin.buses : I won't be modifying the glass textures, not only I'd have to go back and modify them for all the cars I've made so far, but I also don't want to. I like them the way they are. Anyway, the Bruckell Nine just came out - so I gave it full priority for the last three days. I have finished all of its variations but the roadster (duh). Sadly, some cars won't be making it to the release. It's mainly cars I don't use a lot and I'm not interested in. Still, I will do them once the mod is released and I have more time. I haven't had time to work on this mod lately, but I'll do my best to release as many skins as possible by Christmas.
