So I just downloaded the Techdemo today on my 1.83 GHZ dual core HP laptop

Im Getting about 35-40 fps with low (not lowest) graphics setting

Question is: Can I run the full version? (with lowest graphics)

The techdemo is a terrible benchmark. The full version gets significantly better performance.

Most certainly so. Not sure what the FPS will be, but better than you're getting now.

The techdemo is an older, unoptimized version of the game. Now they've had time to optimize it, so it plays much smoother.

dont expect much though. Laptops do have trouble running this game. Maps like west coast usa may cause problems.

They run pretty much the same, but in current version you actually can get Vsync off and bit higher framerate, but with same settings they run about same FPS on my computer.

Let's not talk about how many vehicles one can run, I did try, tried so hard to get many covets cloned in tech demo, but could not have only one, certainly new versions allow more vehicles to be run and there is ton of new features as well as graphical changes. Both seem to have equally smooth crashing, finally that hiccup when crashing is gone, that bothered us for so long.

CPU usage is less with new version, but GPU usage about same, so unless one has potato CPU, tech demo should not run slower. Laptops come only with potato CPU's.

But but, also full new version of BeamNG has WORKING graphics settings, so you can actually lower details a bit and get a LOT better performance, tech demo runs at full details, no matter what I chose for graphics settings it was the same.

So definitely worth getting full version of BeamNG, because at lowest of low details it can be run even on potato (with single car).

Does your GPU actually support DX11?
Installing DX11 is one thing and hardware support for it is the other.

Your GPU is Radeon X1600 https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/1603/mobility-radeon-x1600

That is DirectX 9 card, while BeamNG requires DirectX11 to run.

That is really surprising that you can run Tech demo so well, considering the age of hardware.

This is code which is telling what exactly your laptop is and what it can do "HP Compaq nc8430 (RB553UT#ABA)"

I would of never thought your laptop being 11 years old, so sorry.

Maybe you can get a refund because can't run the game, Steam usually does that quite well.

I doubt that being possible, they have probably made it so that it is not possible to mod it.

Of course you could get something bit more recent hardware, second hand 5 years old desktop is probably not going to cost huge amount of money and 2nd hand DX11 GPU from mid range to high end level would run BeamNG as most new machines, maybe even better if you can find nice i7 and 980 or similar performance level for pennies.

Amount of money I put on my system would of bought much better performing machine 2nd hand, but I wanted silent power efficient system and bought new parts and now I'm facing need to upgrade GPU as BeamNG and new content is harder to run at full glory than in 0.8 version where my puny GPU was still fine.

Turning details down I can still run glorious 60fps, but certainly it looks like that Beam is going to require lots of GPU power too.

It may sound stupid, but go to transfer/recycling stations and look for computers. Sometimes you may find some good items. I was able to get my computer for virtually nothing, since it was no longer needed and was going to be thrown out, and it was good apart from the gpu (dreadful ati r5).

Granted, you may not be as lucky as me, but always try to look for free parts. They exist.

May the Soviet junking gods be with you!
