Lower the rebound stiffness and bump stiffness until you get the desired effect.

EDIT: @fufsgfen posted a more in depth explanation below.

I would say that have bump:rebound ratio something around 1:2 then lower bump damping and maintain that ratio when you lower bump (that means lowering rebound too, but with some default setups in BeamNG bump is quite bit high compared to rebound).

However note also that spring frequency needs to be in appropriate range, it really depends from what kind of car you are tuning, but for sporty handling 2Hz and for comfort 1.3Hz, race car with downforcfe can be 3Hz some even bit more.

Also usually one first sets spring rate and after that matches damping for spring frequency, which requires some calculations of vehicle mass and spring rate for each corner. To complicate things there is also motion ratio to consider, but that really depends from vehicle, you need to see where bottom of shock beam is connected as well as axle type, quite often in BeamNG it is 1:1, but there are some vehicles with different motion ratio.

Now spring rate can be estimate also by setting dampers to 0 and counting how many times in a second body bounces, usually front and rear is done separately.

These should not be very bouncy, but with some I hit limits so not all are quite how I liked, anyway I consider those improvement over defaults, now sure if it is anything you want though, but maybe check them out for some idea:

Thanks all! To make it a little easier i went ahead and added adjustable shocks and springs to my mod, what should I adjust for a soft ride? simialar to the type of shocks a monster truck would have, soft long travel shocks.

I also added the code for the shocks what should I edit

You should edit all of the parameters.

I don't know what is weight and weight distribution of your vehicle, so it is kinda hard to tell any specifics, but adjust slider, use node grabber to lift car from center of wheel and drop it down (just tiny bit off from ground), is it too stiff, too bouncy, does it bottom out?

Keep adjusting and testing until it looks fine.

Smaller value of springs is usually softer, but if you hit bumpstops it is very abrupt and you might want to set springs so that you are not hitting bumpstops too often.

If you need more suspension travel, you might need to change node positions in addition to all values.
