So my step daughters are getting two 32gb atom tablets and they come on windows 10 pre anniversary so i open them up to find like 3gb free space!! then find the WinSXS folder is like 7gb. Most point to running check disk to clean up windows update but windows update doesn't even pop up in the checklist, and if it does it is only like 10mb. But on the other tablet it picks up 6gb of past windows update temporary stuff so i delete it and it goes off downloading the anniversary update. why do two identical tablets, running identical versions of windows behave so differently. And to top it all off MS Edge has been crashing on the work laptop (nice Celeron N3350 is ample and perfroms like my macbook). Windows 10 *sigh* why..
Size: 6.36 GB Size on disk: 5.50 GB I wouldn't have even bothered getting something with so little storage.
Ok i will try... 32GB used to be comfortable, i remember on my red laptop i used to get along just fine with it, but i did have to use external media at one point when i had a lot of stuff installed (apps etc). But these tablets are fresh from the factory and only have 3-4gb free space, that is un-accepetable when usually they come with around 13gb free
yeah but it ain't good when windows updates needs 8gb to download an update... They are lightweight computers though, so no heavy videos or anything like that, just to be used as tablets. If we need to play videos then the SD card slot is a godsend
I don't entirely agree. It's a pretty good option for data storage, sure. But I don't think it means that should be the only real thing we use for data storage. I mean, I'm sure there have been hundreds of times when info from them has leaked or something. Also, My folder is 8.73GB in size, and 7.18GB on disk (whatever that means.) and for reference, I got a laptop on Win7 that has the same folder which is 9.80GB in size, with 9.95 on disk. Anyone know whats even in this folder?
I guess.. But anyway, isn't 32GB of storage 'out of date' anyway? I know they're only small tablets, but they're running a full PC OS. Most phones have around 32GB or more of storage now, and they've only gotta deal with something small such as Android
How much do tablets of that sort cost? I wouldn't expect alot, but would an extra 32GB be too much to ask for?
the two tablets were refurb Lenovo Miix 310s 32gb and £110 each. Quite good deal tbh. But i used external media on one to get the update going and once it is done i just selected delete previous version of windows and i have loads of free space. And Onedrive now has smart files again (yippee)
