I had a small accident today in a car I've had for about 2 days, a Ford Ka that'll cover a period of time where I need a runabout. Fantastically nippy little thing and it turns out all too much fun to drive. Most cars these days just don't feel like this, this thing's a go kart that feels absurdly high up. So I introduced it to a guard rail. This isn't mine, it's just a google image for reference so you know what I'm talking about; but the guard rail made a mess of the corner of the front bumper, snapped all the clips, however it occured to me that as you can see in that image the bumper is made of 3 pieces. A little bit of gaffer's tape later and I was able to take the thing to a scrap yard and with some luck I replaced that corner piece for the price of a tenner and a packet of biscuits. That's insanely practical. Are there more cars that do this? I quite adore the concept of those large, protective bits of plastic trim and I'm curios if this is quite unique to this car. and can we have a hatchback with this feature in BeamNG? There would be something rather satisfying about tearing the 6 bumper covers off of a Gavril Ka.
I loved the Mk1 Ka. Soulful little car! It wasn't until later in its production run that color-coded bumpers were made available, early models had strictly unpainted, scratch-resistant bumpers. Their wrap-up design made them insanely practical in slow speed collisions in town. Too bad they were also subject to heavy color-fading. A lot of the surviving cars' bumpers have turned brown by now...
yeah, I have to say I enjoy it quite a lot. Pity I can't keep it for long, I'm genuinely having fun owning it.
