Being able to walk around the cars, open doors, sit in the interior, that kind of stuff.

Something broadly similar was suggested a day or two ago, but that was more about getting out of one car to get into another.

Fortunately, first person control rigs are not at all difficult to build, and sitting in the interior is basically what the driver cam already does now. But the way BeamNG's cars are built means that latches for doors, hoods/bonnets, and trunks/boots can't be unlatched, they can only be permanently broken. And since there is no current support for interactions between soft and rigid body physics, your character would probably phase through your vehicle. I'm not giving you a hard no, it sounds like it would be neat in the garage mode. But there are a few practical obstacles.

Well I mean the Forzavista thing is just a camera to "mimic" first person when you walk around, and not a physical thing. So if it's just a camera then I wouldn't mind that at all. :p

And yeah I've been wondering why they never made vehicle doors proper. Hard to code/implement?

I've never played any of the Horizon games, hardly even any Forzas. I have seen the Forzavista thing used in a couple of videos, but I wasn't sure if you wanted a proper first-person walking character à la Driveclub. If you're talking just a floating camera, I don't think phasing through cars would be a huge problem, but perhaps the camera honoring static and landscape collision would make the experience feel more polished.

About doors: we do have the coupler logic now, but most cars predate couplers, so they never wound up part of the vehicle creation workflow. And even today, I'm not too sure they are rigid enough for hoods at high airspeeds or some of the older, springloaded panels (e.g. Burnside's trunk). Even if you could get them to work that way, you'd still need to apply the forces to open doors, etc., though something could probably be whipped up with a modified nodegrabber or thruster.

Jesus imagine if they made the door handles fully physical/functional or something. Obviously would probably be a bit pointless in terms of coding it, and I'm sure it'd be a PITA, but still, imagine if you could physically push in the button on older door handles or pull up on the lever thing for newer doors.
