Hi all, So I would like to add the option of spread axle bogies to the dry van trailer and the flatbed (similar to image attached). Is it as simple as importing both trailers into Blender and cutting the tandem bogie in half and moving the axle forward or is it more in depth than that? I'm also guessing I would have to modify the jbeam slightly (which I am also unsure of the basics of that as well). Any input is much appreciated.

It might be, but I don't know for sure. I've never used Blender =P

Yeha, pretty much. Just use the Knife tool (K), press C to do a straight cut & Z to cut-through the whole mesh instead of one side. It's best to do that in the user perspective (numpad 3) so then you will have a noice & straight cut

Thanks, Another question is what would need to be modified in the jbeam to attach the axles to the trailer?

The bogies are common parts, there is no need to alter the dryvan or flatbed trailers flexbodies. If you use the same node names as current bogies, you probably do not have to alter the trailers jbeams as well.

Many parts (axles, wheels, tires etc) can simple be moved a bit, but be aware that in between the front and rear axle leafsprings there is a 'leaf spring equalizer'. I'm not familiar with those 'spread axle' bogies, but I guess that the equalizer should be removed making the axle movement independed of each other.

I thought about the exactly same thing. Doing it be cutting a 2 axle bogie in half, or just copy and paste 2 single axle bogies to one trailer. But i kind of couldn´t figure out how to do it :( :(
