This is a thread about the estates, wagons, tourers, etc. and your opinions on them. I like station wagons, they give more room for taller items, are fun vehicles, and can be a great daily car.
I appreciate them. To me, station wagons and utes are very unique variants of cars. I like to wonder what certain cars would look like as wagons and utes. There is something I'm wondering, would we be correct that minivans pretty much killed them in the US?
In Europe they're alive and well. But in the US, they're not really in production anymore. I believe what counts as last few American station wagons, according to what I saw on Wikipedia, was the Buick Roadmaster, Chevrolet Caprice/Impala, Dodge Magnum, and the Cadillac CTS Sportwagon.
Don't forget Japan, they have plenty. For example, the old Corolla wagons. Also, do they have a American Mondeo Vignale?
Are you talking about this? If you are, I don't think so. I haven't seen any like it driving around. If there is any here in the US, they're probably imports.
Wagons are great! I’ve always liked hatchbacks and wagons are like big hatchbacks. They’re practical, stylish, and have very similar performance to their sedan counterparts. Unfortunately, wagons don’t sell well here in the US, so they’re all but gone here. (_ _)
Now American companies make estates for Europe or other countries. The only noticable estates that still stay in America are the Volvos.
My opinion on station wagons are the better option than the boring and generic sedans, soccer mom minivan except Mercedes-Benz R63 AMG that is craziest road legal minivan and the SUV that driven on the road and it suppose to go offroad. My favorite wagon type car is the Nissan Stagea 260RS Autech and I would like to own one rather than driving a boring city car or a compact pickup truck.
One of my favorite station wagons is the Ford Country Squire. The Wagon Queen Family Truckster is my favorite onscreen wagon. I actually like how ridiculous it looks.
