when you lift a Car up on a hydraulic ramp and the wheels of your Car are in the Air they will start to spin when you Turn on the Car even if you dont have any gear selected (only counts for Manual ) .. that would be nice if you could implement that ... should be not that hard to do that.
they do that beause the part of the Transmission that is connected to the Engine Via the Clutch is still spinning (no gear is engaged) but theses few kogs and the shaft of the transmission is moving the Transmissionoil and that is causing the Gear wheels to spin --- Post updated --- excuse me what ? xD --- Post updated --- yes they do xD thats why I made that thread xD ... i guess for some of the newer Cars it doesnt count for ... but ollder ones definitly and only for Manunal Cars ( as I wrote )
As the former owner of a 1979 Toyota Hilux, i can safely say that my car never once did that while the rear was in the air
I witnessed my neighbor's 1984 Tercel doing that on a 2-pillar lift. If the feature comes as a by-product of accurate oil pressure simulation or what ever causes it, then it would be a neat detail. But not worth the trouble to fake it.
yes they do xD thats why I made that thread xD ... i guess for some of the newer Cars it doesnt count for ... but ollder ones defintetly and you can just google it xD and I work at a Carworkshop and had it happen to me xD --- Post updated --- i guess its only for FWD ... my Civic EG did it xD --- Post updated --- hm yeah if you can call it " fake it" ... idk ... woull dbe a nice detail if the wheels jsut slowly begin to turn in the Idle speed of first gear
I mean it's "real" if Powertrain Visualization app shows what spins the wheel, be it engine torque, frictions, vibrations or my node grabber. Just coding it to spin at some speed in N is "fake".
Henzzman 6 years ago thats perfectly normal,as the neutral position on the gearbox only means, that any of the gears arent locked to the shaft that is going through the gearbox and being spinned around by the engine.there is still some friction between the freely moving gear and the shaft that it sits on in unlocked position and that friction makes it move just little enough to spin the wheels little, when the wheels are in the air.if the wheels are on the ground, then the gear in the gearbox will just spin freely on the shaft, like it does in neutral.
Yup, this effect exists IRL. My 3d printed transmission model showcases this very nicely and makes it obvious why this happens. A manual transmission (or a DCT for that matter) has a bunch of nested parts on shafts, these would often turn at different speeds while in gear. When the car is in neutral though, the friction between these can be high enough to "lock" them together, transmitting a very minor amount of torque. This requires everything else down the powertrain to have very little friction as well, otherwise the effect will just not be visible. I don't have any plans to add this to the game though.
