Hi guys, I'm trying to make T-series cabover truck, because i thought there should be one in game. All i've already done is blender model. I've imported .dae model from BeamNG, and edited it in blender, so it looks hm...not bad i guess. I'm a total rookie with moding, and i never did any so is there any advice you can give me? And am i doing right thing editing it in blender? There's a pic added to this post. Thanks
Thats not how usually cabovers are made, especially the older ones. Usually engine sits sorta between the driver and passenger seat, flat floor cabovers are definitely an eu thing with I believe the renault magnum being the first to feature that. Your current design would need a hell of a lot of climbing skills, not essentially what your average trucker has. Grille is also huge. Dimensions wise a standard daycab cabover shouldn't be all that much higher than the T-series Daycab. As for technical advice, this model seems to have a hell of a lot shading errors, and some parts seem to be each other such as the huge grille
I wanted to say the same thing lmao. Admittedly, you worded your post a lot nicer than I would have stated mine.
I actually think the goofy look works! While I won't claim to know anything about moding, I really hope to see this project put into at least a WIP state.
An American cabover is definitely something I'd love to see in the game! I grew up seeing lots of them on the road and in movies when I was a kid in the 80's.
It doesn't really look like a "normal" cabover, but BeamNG doesn't have to steep itself in reality. I say it's got a wonderful charm to it, like a truck you would see being driven on Mars in an 80's science fiction movie. Can't wait to see what you do with it!
I'd say go right on ahead with it! Feel like it'd be more of a concept truck/video game aesthetic truck though because as @Ai'Torror said it's ridiculously tall and has a massive grille.
I agree- it looks awkward and a bit too high. I just wanted to place engine under the cab, but now it looks ridiculous. BUT! i kinda like it. Like I said, it's the first time i did anything in blender, so I'm still learning. I'm going do to more stuff by myself, like steps under the door etc. For now i deciced to place those two bars behind the door, like it was in Renault Magnum, so i think I'll make something like this. It's my own interpretation of making Gavril's truck, so it might be different than all other, and real trucks. Actually i don't even know how to place it in game, so... Maybe I'll just make a cab mod to this T-series? What you think guys?
Actually, I'm a truck driver here in EU, and trucks here got totally flat floor over the engine. Floor in Mercedes truck is bit above my eyes, and I'm 176cm. Small trucks got engine bay between passenger and driver, but only the small ones.
That wasn't quite the case untill the first gen magnum appeared, eu trucks used to be much smaller than they are now. And your design is nowhere near EU truck design, or even modern, hence why I suggested going for lower cab with engine between driver and passenger.
I agree, but I didn't even want to be accurate. What I decided to make, is something like this. Don't like it? No probs, It won't be released, I'm going to leave it to myself. All i wanted to do, just a truck i like, which i could drive in BeamNG that was made by me. All i need is advice how to export it to a game I have no idea how to, but I'll figure it out. Now i think I'll just make a CAB mod, so it could be simply attached to existing model, that's easiest way i guess.
think mercedes 1519 series, fiat 640 & 670 series/680 series and lancia esadelta/esagamma. if you want to go even further back in time there is the OM tigrotto, leoncino, tigre, lupetto, daino and probably a few i dont remember. anyway they are all cabovers without flat floor.
I've ALWAYS wanted this. Dude this is looking fab. Hopefully one day it'll be finished and on the repo!
