    MOD FOLDER
Alright, so in userfolderloaction/0.31/mods/unpacked/, you’d want to make a new folder and name it something. For this, I’ll simply call it “truckdieter” from now on. In that file, make a folder called “vehicles”, and in that, the internal name of the car. Now, internal names are often the same as the vehicle brand, model or body type. To see an internal car name, you can go to gamefileslocation/content/vehicles/ (or the thumbnail generator of the vanilla game Showroom accessible through the “use auxi-whatever debug content” checkmark. on the map select). The T-Series’ name is “us_semi”. So you make a folder for that. Now inside that folder is where you put all the stuff in.

    STARTING OUT WITH PARTS
Now, in that game files location I told you about, there are .zip files for different vehicles, trailers and props. In those .zip files, you have the .jbeam files for the parts, .json files for car and specific config info, some texture files for the - well - textures, .pc files which are configs (they’re written basically like json so opening them with notepad should be good enough to edit them if you ever need to), and .dae & .cdae for the 3D mesh (the dae luckily you can open with just Blender and no plugins, and the cdae is made automatically by the game to increase loading speed, so don’t worry about that one and just ignore it).
Anyways, what you want to do is copy the parts you want to make different versions of, AKA the jbeam files they’re in, and then the .dae that the meshes for them are in. Now, I’ll tell you about what to do next once you do all that.

Yep. Rename the files to something custom so that it doesn’t conflict with anything.
Now, in that file, you have a few things.
First is the internal name. It has to be different to not overwrite the normal part.
Then, the name in the parts selector. This one you should change to know which part is yours.
Then there’s a few sections. One that you should pay attention to, is “flexbodies”. This section has:
    1. the mesh used by the part (change this to the name of the mesh in Blender)
    2. the name of the node group that deforms that mesh (keep this the same)

Over in Blender, you can remove meshes that you won’t edit, and those that you will, rename them so that they don’t just replace the original ones. Then once you edit them, and export the .dae, that should be all good.

    Important shortcuts:
Ctrl+R - refresh vehicle, press this in-game every time you make a change in the jbeam or the .dae and tab over to the game (although .dae changes should apply automatically once you tab over to the game after exporting the mesh)
Ctrl+L - refresh lua, try this if Ctrl+R doesn’t work, or when you make a new folder with a mod while the game is running. I call it the “Lefresh” since it’s like the refresh but you press L instead of R.

That rename should work, but it could interfere with some other mods. I suggest naming things after you, for example: us_semi_headlights_dieter.

    Rename this:
    IMG_1438.jpeg
So that it doesn’t conflict with anything (so for example add _dieter to it or something). Then in the jbeam of the lights, in the “flexbodies”, replace the old names with the new ones.

    Yep, all perfect. Nice job!

To cut something in half, I suggest Ctrl+R. You can always look up Blender functions on Google or something. I learned a few things like that.

Later down in this file is also where the left headlight is, so change stuff there too.
And there might also be the round 70s headlights, so get rid of those since you’re not doing anything with them.

May I suggest following some modding guides before asking at every step? Fillman86 has a good video

    Hm.
    Strange.
Is there anything in red in the debug console? (press ‘ on your keyboard)

Also, how do you want to cut the lights?

Do you know how to do that? (I’d be surprised if you didn’t, I dropped out of the donut tutorial and even I know)

All of those seem to be related to Luuks’ drafting mod. Maybe try disabling that and then checking the console.
Make sure that there aren’t any misspells in the jbeam.
    --- Post updated ---
Select all the parts of the left headlight, then Tab over to Edit Mode, then press R, Y, 9, 0 and Enter.
Maybe that will work. If it does, do the same but select the right headlight instead.

EDIT: changed 180 to 90 bc my brain had a dum dum moment, just saying so you notice
