Yesss finally a step van for BeamNG I’m so glad you’re making this. Good luck and I’ll keep an eye on it for new updates
If you ever need references pics , let me know it will be a pleasure to help you ! I do have access pretty frequently to these in real life as my job is to transport them ( ups , FedEx , Purolator ) . Im driving frequently the Ford based ones and the Freightliner Custom Chassis. And good job btw, it's coming nicely together ! Please , please make them compatible with the cargo boxes for the career mode delivery system
Appreciate it, thank you! And I do plan to add compatibility for cargo, I just have to figure out how those systems work as I have never used career mode
I hope this gets finished, i hope it comes with some strange diesel engine maybe an izuzu 5.2 4 cylinder diesel or something of that sort.
Usually these are built on a Ford E250 / E350 chassis and uses the engine offered with them . If the lore is accurate to the real life , it will probably use a gas V8 engine for the base model and a diesel engine for the heavy duty variant . Maybe it can have the I6 engine from the H Series as the base base model / city only model but it would have to uses Gavril engines to be lore accurate . FYI the way it works is the body company order only the frame and powertrain from the manufacturer and they put their body on top of them !
Exactly right, to this day Ford still sells the bare chassis for the E450, while the E-Series was discontinued ages ago
I just realized this mod could go pretty good with Top Tier studio's Fictional Trucking pack. And maybe it could use the custom cargo packaged as well
BeamNg is actually a " everything " sim lol --- Post updated --- Yep , it's only for commercial use and not avaible to the public . It's called a " incomplete vehicle " or " stripped chassis " and consist of only the frame , engine , transmission and the strict minimum to make it run
And it's not street legal until a body is put on it. Fun fact, to move stripped chassis they sometimes put a plywood board between the frame rails near the front then strap down a folding chair on top of that, so it can be quickly removed when the actueal body is put on. Other times they only partially construct the body (basically just the floor and seat only). After all, its only going from the assembly line onto a truck that hauls them to the body builder's plant.
Correct. As of now, Morgan Olson is the largest provider of stepvan bodies for Ford stripped chassis' and Freightliner MT45 chassis.' In the past, chassis' were also produced by Workhorse (using Chevy engines), Grumman, and GM itself (P30 Forward Control Chassis) among other manufacturers I forgot.
would this kind of vehicle even have a new type steering wheel or would its most advanced part be its late 90s airbag wheel
Yes, these vehicles are still produced to present day, both step vans and the stripped chassis Ford E-Series, which are fitted with modern tech, such as an updated steering wheel
People have already made many USPS skins for vehicles ingame, so I feel like there isn't a need to change it. When whatawhat adds a UPS skin, I would want to see a version with salt and dust (and squeaky brakes) for that genuine New England UPS experience
