This has been done before, there used to be a car crusher mod, but it's broken. It used a way simpler approach: the spinners were just really heavy wheels powered by an extremely powerful engine that spins them at idle, it had automatic transmission where you changed gears in arcade mode by using throttle and brake to change the rotation speed, and you could use cruise control app to set precise speed. Sadly that's not possible to replicate in the current game version as really powerful engines like this don't have smooth and constant rotation speed anymore, it changes violently and sometimes even completely stops. I managed to make a bus crusher based on that idea though, it's a 1000 times more powerful version, but it's controlled the same way as the vanilla roller prop. (I won't release it, too low effort)
I would love to figure out how to make a real mangler with a engine and transmission ! Later on the to learn list. Likely last thing I will try to do the cars and getting them to move. Doubt I would ever try to make a car but may try to make some crazy hot dog car or other crazy thing on wheels. I briefly looked at some car jbeams and its information overload. I peak at it and think on what I read, then later read more till it starts to sink in some. Still stuck trying to get slots to work . I figured as long as this game has been out there may not be much not thought of. But since you mention engine operated that would be much better. Controls implementation is also on the to learn list. Only know how to use the Giant Sleds' T and G with thrusters. I would not hesitate to release something more simple if I was you, someone would appreciate it. I bet what you feel is less effort is great effort to others. Slap a new PBR paint job on it, hehe and ship it Personally I can appreciate anything whether it be simple or complex. --- Post updated --- I did a real life bone head thing today. Had to fill up 3 gas cans for lawnmower. The automatic little metal clip that one can set while filling up a car engaged and it got stuck. The little gas container filled up fast. I got gas all over the place. All over my shoes, on the parking lot. Not sure how much,. guess about 2 gallons before I could get it unstuck. Looking at the people in line behind me I can only image what they where thinking. What a dumb ass likely. I can only laugh about it. House smells like gas, shoes are outside on the porch. Funny thing is my grandmother was standing next to me when I was pumping the gas in the car(prior to the mishap) said, "I always loved the smell of gas". On the drive back the car reeked of gas..... "So, you still like the smell of gas" ? hehe.
