I hate when people see a crash and say,"that's not what would happen." Then i just want to say,"OH YEAH, I'M SURE YOU WOULD KNOW SINCE YOU'VE DEFINITELY JUMPED A CAR OFF A 100 FOOT CLIFF BEFORE, yeah, uh huh!
What really gets on my nerves every time people discredit Beam is when they say "the driving physics is sooo unrealistic" when the only games that they've likely played are GTA 5, Forza, or Need For Speed. Beam may be an unparalleled crashing simulator, but it is also a very good driving simulator because of the ways that the physics is handled. Unlike a lot of other driving games, which prioritize ease of use and initial engagement over pure simulation, Beam is a lot more detailed in the way that the cars drive than in any other driving game I've played (and I've played a decent variety; everything from Need For Madness and Roblox to Grid 2 and Simraceway). The only things that I think that Beam is missing so far are tire wear and thermals, and then it'll be truly satisfying to play. Every other game I've played tends to focus purely upon the race cars, the JDM classics, the supercars, the muscle cars, the sports cars, and every other high-performance car in the car world, and often it's only the JDM cars that get high customization. Beam allows me to experience trim levels that typically would be ignored by AAA racing games, and I get to build some truly silly stuff (like stock-engined race cars or stock cars with high-powered engines in them).
This : "DRIVING IS SO HARD AND SUCKS GTA V IS BETTER" Or anyone who says crash physics are unrealistic.
"Omg this is so unrealistic, why can't I drive, it's like I'm on ice!!! OMG why do the cars crumple like paper?!!! Play a real game like GTA V!!!!!111!!!" It just really makes me mad...
all of this has pretty much already been discussed: https://www.beamng.com/threads/lets-take-a-look-at-the-negative-reviews-for-beamng-drive.35317/
I hate it when people call this a crashing simulator, or anything of that nature. There's full engine simulation, engine and brake thermals, reallistic ABS, ESC, etc. and many more. The cars crash well for the same reason they drive well, it's the physics engine. it's not like there's a specialized system in exclusively just for the crashes... It also cheapens the hell out of the game to take all of the work that's been done so far by artists, programmers, etc. and simply call it a "crash simulator"
I can't wait until they get their first car and try taking a 90 degree turn at 100MPH. Wait, yes I can.
I can't wait until they accidentally press a button that blocks their screen with a wall of text. --- Post updated --- REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
One other thing i hate is when people turn, while not going that fast, but are still full on the gas while smoke churns out of their wheels, and say "why are my wheels slipping?'' oh maybe because in real life you dont gas it while taking a sharp turn
