Did a few searches and didn't see what I was looking for. Maybe someone has worked this out.

    I also checked the wiki
    Please explain the TOD settings

Day Length I believe is length of a day in real seconds. I would take that to mean 3600 is a one hour (real time) day in game. Is that correct?

Time is time of day, wiki says between 0 and 1 so is .5 noon?

I am not clear on Day and Night scale please explain.

I would like to setup a 30 min day/night cycle with day being 27 mins and night 3 mins. Any help would be apprieciated.

I played with the settings some but not getting expected results. Do I need to just click in the game to have changes take effect, or for
some do I need to exit or restart? I actually tried all three and did not get the expected results.

    Thanks!

There's a box you have to tick to make it play, and that's all you need to do afaik. You don't need to restart anything.

3600 should indeed make one real hour one day in the game.

I'm not sure about the scale though. I don't think anywhere the maps are based there are 2-3 hour nights so 27 minutes day and 3 minutes night wouldn't exactly be realistic.

Thanks for the reply, I did check, uncheck and check the play button. So that resets your newly entered values.

Yeah scale would be nice to understand. I see what the wiki recommends and looked at other peoples levels and there values are not in the wiki recommended ranges. ( I think)

I know its not realistic, the mod I am working on would barely be playable in the dark. Still its nice to see a quick dynamic day change every 30 mins or so.

I play a game called fuel that has a day and night cycle, and so many people complained as when it was pitch dark you could barely see even with the head lights on and it lasts quite a while. Once modded, I was able to adjust it in that game the way I wanted.

I took another look at the wiki, and it says:

"You can also set dynamic day/night cycle.
    1. Tick "play" under "time" option in TimeOfDayTree.
    2. Set dayScale to 0.06 (or something between 0.01 and 0.1) under azimuthOverride in TimeOfDay tree.
    3. Set nightScale to 0.1 (or to anything like above).
    4. Observe changes

Keep in mind: The higher value you set for both day and night scale, the shorter day and night will be. The lower value, the longer day and night."

The keep in mind part is confusing? Are these numbers in anyway linked to each other or the day length?

I thought it might work like 1800 seconds for time a day = 30 mins,

Since the higher the value the shorter the time

.01 would be 27mins for day
.09 would be 3 mins for night

Is .1 the value for the entire 24 hour day? I haven't a clue how this works.

If the wiki makes sense to you on TOD please explain.
