Toggle buttons

Hi, i was wondering if there is a way to make buttons toggle, like putting it in 1st gear. when i release it it goes back to neutral (im not using a traditional h shifter, im using buttons) is there a way or filter or something that makes it toggle instead of going to neutral when i release it?

I'm not 100% sure but I think this can't be done right now without modifying game files. Someone a while ago wanted to do essencially the opposite (turn a toggle into a "hold" button) and they had to do a bit of tinkering in lua for it to work iirc.
