Hey guys, Well I am a Tornado chaser, and I thought opening a topic about the discussion of tornadoes, and other relevant weather disasters would be appropriate in off topic. I am a trained spotter for CANWARN which operates for Environment Canada. We basically report it for the pros to warn people of the impending disasters. Operating in Alberta one of the Tornado Capitals of Canada now included in the North American "Tornado Alley." Edmonton is my home, and one of the best places to experience a lot of severe weather, and if your a chaser. You love living here, I love storms and Tornadoes. I will be inserting a video of the Tornado in '87 that was one of the worst in Canada and still is today rated at a F4 almost F5 (Controversial due to the technology at the time). Injured many and Killed at least 10. This was one of the few tornadoes that have struck a massive populated city in Canada. Due to the Widespread and isolated population of Alberta, some go unspotted, but technology is becoming better. It's a great thing to watch to understand these beasts and how we view them up in this Country. Please watch it if you would like. The USA Has their own "Alert system." The EAS controlled by NOAA Weather. Here in Alberta we have the "Alberta Emergency Alert." Which I think is a lot more versatile and more attention grabbing due to its very loud and distinguished alert tone (Link will be inserted so you can listen.) Anyways I will be posting pictures of my chases throughout the season, which is sadly almost at a close. Any discussion about Tornadoes or any other disastrous weather experiences that you have encountered. Please share them here, I'd like to read them personally.
My dad is a storm chaser. He has a tour business called High Plains Tours http://www.highplainstours.com/ Every year in mid May to early June, we go storm chasing. I have seen around 10 or 11 tornadoes, and they have been small ones, usually F0-F1 (yes I know I am using the old Fujita scale, I haven't been bothered to learn the new one)
A tornado actually demolished our middle school were I lived. Luckily, it was a Saturday, but all the kids had to get relocated to another middle school. I was only 9 when it happened, but I still remember driving by it and seeing the damage. Fast forward 4 years later, a new middle school was built a cross the street, and I actually attend it.
So...are you saying you're underage for this forum? Though (to the best of my knowledge, which isn't saying much...) people 13 and up are generally allowed to stay if they behave themselves, any younger, and they're banned for legal reasons. Sorry for the off-topic post.
hes fine, the younger ones should get banned if they start screaming for bugatti veyrons and lamborghinis though EDIT Have watched all the stormchaser series, they made it up until someone was killed in an accident
If you conduct yourself like you just did @KozyKat you can be 8 for all I care. If the kid is 13 and speaks like an adult for all concerned he's an adult here end of story. The rules are the rules but the letter of the law rarely lines up with the laws Tru intention. Don't alienate our smart well spoken members. Please.
i actually had a short burst fly over my house (it would have become one if wind picked up) darning a storm down in town a residents shed blew into a crick my dads camper got a big dent in it because of our trampoline my town was littered with tree branches
That tornado was on the Motorway A4 near Padova and Venice. Note: The truck was a *coff coff**bleah* RENAULT Magnum...
All of last week out here in Kansas there was a round of severe storms that most of you probably heard about on the news. Out here on the farm we got about 3 inches altogether and luckily we didn't get any tornados, but north of town there were at least one tornado. The newspaper said the tornado was a EF0 and a EF1. Nobody got hurt around here, not even the cows. Just reporting the weather out here in the Plains.
