Torque converters etc

Hello, I've got a problem. What's the meaning of having 2000+ horsepower when you can't use it. When I use any manual trans the clutch burns up and whenever I use a automatic drag trans the thing just slips like hell, and however I tune the torque converter it still slips, even though I barely can start driving with it. So how do you guys tune your converters? I have meo's drag mod and cjd parts, the engine I'm using is 454 crate lsx.
