i believe its CTRL+B or CTRL+N just press either of those multiple times to cycle through different views of the different parts of the jbeam.
@Ghani05 did you get permission for this yet? There's no point getting hopes up if this can't be released.
Rule is such that you need to have permission from original author in order to share his work that you have changed.
He was last logged in to the forum on Friday, just 3 days ago. So it is safe to assume he still comes at least occasionally.
Awesome! I'm doing a similar thing with the old BMW E30 mod, since it has been abandoned as well. What's the deal with abandoned mods? Can we refresh them as long as we give credit? It would be nice to see more mods getting refreshed despite the original creators leaving the forums for whatever reasons. So many great mods that were broken by updates.
So to answer the question more directly, you're saying that even if the owner is totally absent from the forums and unable to be reached, you're SOL? That's a bummer.
That is the good manners part of it. In EULA there is part that would require some clarification, it goes something like this "by uploading content to BeamNG servers, you accept that users may create derivate works from it" I can't remember exact wording, but if one claims someone else's work to be his own, that can result even a ban, so there are these borderlines which not all are absolutely clear. Best would be to ask and get permission, if no reply, then that could mean that no permission is given, there has been cases where this has not been followed and threads has been removed, emotions has been hurt, so I would follow good manners part, despite EULA kinda gives you permission, but in practice it kinda does not. Implementing updates such way that they act as an addon to original vehicle would not require permission, adding new configs with new parts with new features, that would be much better accepted I believe, but if parts of original mods are used to make those, then it might become to permission question once again. Changing and re-uploading mod would be same as russian mod sites are doing, which is considered as stealing. You see, having permission just makes life so much easier and avoids you getting into trouble. Now one way to think this is that if you make a picture, someone captions it and uploads it some place, how would you feel about it? Many mods have taken hundreds of hours work and they are expression of modder's vision, it can get very sensitive and touchy if one changes others work without permission.
I completely understand asking for permission, and I agree with that part. I'm also not saying anyone should ever try to claim the updated mod as their own. Heck, I would even go so far as to post in the original thread and credit original creators and solely taking credit for the work which I have done to get it to work with new updates. I'm talking about after attempts to gain permission have received zero response at all. I feel that in these cases giving credit for the original work is OK if the creator doesn't visit the forums anymore and/or has given up on beam completely. I think the fact the creator abandons it and no longer supports/updates it would show they do not care for it any longer. I personally would not be upset if a mod I made was so loved that users took it into their own hands to keep it alive when I couldn't or wouldn't. This, to me, is completely different from someone copying a picture and reuploading it as your own, without ever trying to get permission, and on that front we are in agreement. Anyways, I understand what you're saying, and while its a shame to see some mods die because the original creator abandoned it, that's just the way it goes. I'll keep the updates to myself in that case, which I would hate to do but I also do not want to get banned. Thanks for your input!
Honestly, I would like to see old mods updated, but sadly things can't be simple even in that. Anyway any of my mods are free to use and update, not that they are much, but for me it is more important that people enjoy than what ever fame or rights or such there might be.
Fucking love it. Please make it. I'd like to see this gen Celica and others maybe. --- Post updated --- ' --- Post updated --- -
I'm not sure if I should post the updated version, should I wait a few more days? He hasn't responded to my message yet
