Hello Forum. I'm trying to create a new transmission for the ETK K-Series using the data from another car's transmission. I have the J-Beam file done, but I do not know where to put it. The transmission file for the ETK seems to originate from "common.zip" under content/vehicles in the steam directory.

When I tried to modify this zip file (meaning I extracted it, replaced intended J-Beam, recompressed, and placed back in its home) this corrupts the file. I then tried to put the J-Beam in the specific car's zip folder, but that failed too (I assume because it's not from there originally).

I have also done the method as to where I put them in the "Documents" section under vehicles/common AND vehicles/etkc. This failed too.

If anyone knows what I may have done wrong, please let me know. I appreciate it.

Put the file in (userfolder) > mods > unpacked > [folderwithmodname] > vehicles > etkc. You will need to make any folders that are missing

I will try this, but doesn't it make sense to root it through common instead of etkc, since the transmission file comes from there

Well the "common" folder is for stuff shared across multiple different vehicles usually, also you should never modify the files in Beam's content folder, not only will that corrupt stuff but it would also get removed with cache clears, integrity checks, updates, ect. Whenever you make a mod either zip it and put it in your mods folder or keep it unzipped and put it in mods > unpacked
