Trying to save a custom vehicle, having problems

I have been able to do it before, but now when I try it just gets rid of the in-game UI and I cannot do anything, not even save the custom car I have made. I have already tried to restart the game, with the same thing happening the second time around. Are there any ways to fix this?

 

The reason the game freezes is because it's saving the config and making a thumbnail for it. You just have to wait. the longest it's taken for me is about 3 minutes.

If you don't want to wait as long you can turn off "Automatically generate thumbnail on save" at the bottom of the save menu. It'll speed up the saving process but you won't get a preview pic for the car in the vehicle selection menu.

 

I left it for ages (probably about 10 minutes), but I'll give it a go and see what happens.

 

It's possible that it finished saving and you didn't realize. Since the "Configuration Saved" message is blocked by the menu there's no telling. I suggest trying to move the car in any way (turn the wheel, push the brake, turn on the lights) to tell if the game has finished.

I keep the wheel turned while I'm saving. It looks cool in the pic and that way I'll know when it's finished, because when the game unfreezes, the wheel goes back in place.


Also keep in mind that closing the game while it's frozen just makes it freeze even worse, to the point where your screen is gonna be stuck on the game for up to a few minutes. When the game stops responding there's basically no recovering it.

 

The actual game isn't frozen, as I can still move my car. However, there is no way to access the UI after trying to save the custom preset. I just tried with 'generate thumbnail on save' unchecked, and it still did the same thing. Even though I can drive the car, the file does not save.
