Lets see, I used the Desert Road for my test Good Points: Well Designed and built! Lovely Balance Powerful engine Very responsive with steering input Okay bad points Suspension is a bit hard Twitchy Lack of dials on the interior Improvements Aero Package so it can have some downforce Possible Turbocharged engine Suspension settings, Soft, Medium, Hard? Gearbox, Possible 6 speed Manual (That is so far what I think of the car I am trying to do my best to be polite and nice about it)
Great job! Still remember that Russian Lotus 49 MOD(be taken down in the official forum?). I think that MOD is way better that other Russian MODs.
That's intentional. I'm terminally lazy, and the components in there aren't seen very often, so I omitted them. TS67 isn't supposed to be a realistic looking mod with flexbody everything, but the physical side of it is pretty bang on, I reckon. Regarding the dials and other fru-fru details, refer to my point above; anything other than a basic body and wheels is a bonus. I considered leaving the steering wheel out, but the cockpit is pretty boring without it. I'm not sure if I can soften the suspension further without increasing the precomp for the shocks. Yes! Twitchy is pretty much what these cars are supposed to be. Give this a read and you'll know how good you have it with these newfangled slicks... http://www.iracing.com/1967-the-summer-of-lo-tus-49/ Aero kits weren't introduced until the very end of the 1960s, and those were mounted haphazardly on the suspension components until a couple years into the 1970s. If you're jonesing for more grip, increase the tyre frictionCoef in the jbeam, or turn up the gravity. The former tends to make the car flip easily though. I'll think about it, since I still have to do the collision triangles. No turbo. One suspension setting is already far too many, unfortunately. I'll keep the transmission as it is for now, since it seems to be serving its purpose adequately with 5 gears. Lots of things are subject to change, so it's all good. Thanks for your input
I think I still have that mod on my old Win 7 Drive somewhere I gotta look it up now that was classic before someone took it down although it was in breach of copyright if I recall!
Ah no problem man, I just figured this car is from 1967 after all but I could see a 1970s version of it but glad I helped out with possible future ideas
Just did a lap with keyboard on Hirochi Raceway Medium Circuit, the car is really shaky when breaking, and a bit hard to control
Great! I can't wait to give it a spin since I'm a huge fan of GPL and the BT20 from rF2. Thank you for your efforts
Great! There only is one major problem, though. The front wheels have too less pressure. If you try it on the racetrack around the grid map, the front tires will kind of bend. I know this is in beta and it will turn out great but just pointing this out.
I managed to get the older Lotus 49 to work but I had to delete 1 file a russian file that was idk what but it refused to compress with it so I deleted it I may try readded it to the file to see if it fixes a bug...
The pressure is high enough, I just softened the sidewalls a little too much while eliminating variables. It'll be addressed when I get around to tuning the tyres again. I intentionally made this thing super easy to drive
it has no coltris yet. Nodes collide with coltris and terrain only. The nodes of this vehicle therefore collide with terrain in crashes and with most vehicles, but because this vehicle lacks coltris they can't collide with themselves
Not sure if it's on purpose, but this is huge compared to '67 F1 cars. Nearly 3 meter wheelbase, vs. about 2.4 m. It would be relatively easy to scale it down at this point.
