I'd like to see tunnels in terrains. Driving in a tunnel in the daytime, headlights up, the echo of the engine... what's not to love?

The terrain editor at the moment is very well done, but there is no way to make a cave or tunnel that I could find. I could see how it would be done, but it's hard to explain so bear with me.

Say you had the blank grid map. You go into the editor and wanted to make an offroad course that goes Through a mountain. So you start making the track, place the rocks, trees, buildings, paint the grass, dirt, sand, make a pond, forge some hills, jumps, and in the middle is a gigantic mountain. Looks like something strait out of skyrim. How would you get an underground tunnel section going through it?

BEHOLD! The mighty (figurative) tunnel tool! You select this magic all-in-one construction device. You start like many other tools, with the brush size, shape (maby a custom shape would work best for this) and you click right on the spot you want the entrance of the tunnel to be.

The rest of the map becomes transparent save for a purple circle and an XYZ arrow transcriber...thing (don't remember what it's called) which can be dragged to make a cylinder-like shape through the mountain. But Ho! you want this tunnel to dip, curve, and maby even helix! Not to worry! Much like the road and lake editors, each click places an anchor for the next segment "Billiant" "An inspiration" I know.

SO know you've placed the last segment and are ready to place the exit, easy peasy, just drag the last segment to the other side of the mountain, and a green outline of the whole tunnel system indicates that everything is in order and ready to go. (Or a red outline if the exit is on uneven terrain or invalid or whatever)

An "Are you sure" box pops up and a click of the "duh yes" button starts materializing the tunnels right before your eyes. It's glorious. Simply glorious.

    "But what about caves?"

Why thanks for asking citizen of this universe, caves would work in exactly the same way as tunnels, however when you've placed the last segment, you can simply hit ("CTRL L-Click, Enter, whatever) and cave will build itself up to that point.

Just think how awesome it would be to spawn in a cave, camera pointed at the entrance from the outside, headlights blinding the darkness around the, a roar of the engine, and out pops You. You magnificent creature you.

I don't know how badly this would clash with the other tools, like lowering the terrain above the tunnel through the tunnel could cause some bugs, or maby just some clipping. And how would deforming work on the top of the tunnel?

    Just a thought

I'm sorry, I had no idea this amazing software existed outside Beamng.drive. Definitely giving torque 3D a shot. I'll post this (probably rephrased) on their suggestion forums once i find it
