Hello BeamNG drive forum peoples, Have been crashing and smashing my way through BeamNG drive for a little while now and in all been having a blast. My question is, Is it possible to adjust a vehicles tyre properties to create some tyre ballooning http://i.ytimg.com/vi/1pZnbH8MDzk/mqdefault.jpg. Maybe not this extreme but...I do realise that road cars (stelel belts/bands) and the 46" monsters on the Moonbuggy Rock Crawler (canvas plies) are made so they don't balloon but i'd like to try it out. Am I mad or optimistic.
You can easily edit the tires size from their Jbeam. If you go in the BeamNG Folder > Vehicles > Choose a vehicle and look for the files named "wheel-something.jbeam" and open it with notepad or any text editor, scroll down and you will find some lines where it says "Tire width, radius, etc.". Edit those values and you will see changes ingame too.
Before the Pre-Race update, the tires ballooned quite a bit actually...When you flipped, lets say, a Covet with 1000 hp and tall gearing, and you put it in 5th or 6th gear and nailed the gas, the wheels would speed up to over 150-300 mph, and the tires would get VERY tall, and skinny. It would also create quite a bit of gyroscopic effects. Since the Pre-Race update, (IIRC) the Dev's have increased the tire rigidity and other values, thus creating a more solid tire model. This also contributed to the increased handling performance of the cars. Now, after the update, the tires do it still, although at a much smaller scale. They don't expand as much as they did.
