Hey guy's, This is my first post on this forum, first let me introduce myself, my name is Jeremy I use the Alias 'Chr0m3 x MoDz' over the years I have done some pretty big things in the console modding scene but I'm moving on to PC. I am Australian and being Australian means I love my burnouts, so it is kind of a bummer that BeamNG doesn't simulate tyre popping when doing burnouts. So my question is this, is there any interest in a tyre wear mod (basically tyres will pop while doing long burnouts), it won't be actual simulated 'tyre wear'. I already have created a working example of what I want to do and it works quite nicely (I will put up a video later on), is there any interest? It is actually quite nice, each tyre will wear depending on how fast the tyre is spinning etc, it will be quite realistic! Also a possibility for fire burnouts? If there is interest has anyone got any suggestions to make it as realistic as possible? Thanks for reading. Edit: Here is a preview video of what I have created so far, please note a few things are different JUST for the preview video In this video I pop the tyre just after low wear so it's not a long video. I also use both a locked and open dif so you can see how it only effects tyres that are burning rubber. Features of mod so far: - Tyre will wear based on how much it is abused, so if you have an open diff and are doing big burnouts the spinning tire will wear a lot more. - The wear factor is dynamic, the more the wheel is spinning the quicker it will wear. To do: - Hopefully make it so tyre will come off the rim if you keep going after it pops. Now when I say wear, I don't mean simulated wear I mean it's just a level in the mod (after very high wear, the tyre will pop). Please note: This mod is not ready to be released yet as I am trying to find a way to make it work on any car not just ones you put the lua folder in.
I have a large amount of intrest but what I think you should do is simulate tire wear simulation in general
I've only been working with LUA for 2 days now haha still quite rusty, but simulating general tyre wear I have no idea where to even start (as in less grip with less tread etc).
yeah I get what you mean modding isn't easy, well you should try compeleting this first then try real simulation
This is pretty much completed, just have to clean up the code a little bit and I want to go further, so tyre doesn't just pop but eventually de-beads from the rim so you can rim bash, but won't bother unless this does have a good amount of interested, well I mean I'll do it for myself anyway more then likely. If this goes well, I'm happy to think of a way to do a mock up full tyre wear?, but don't hold your breath haha.
I'll be back from work in about 4 - 5 hours, I'll get a BETA video up when I'm home. Edit: Still haven't got a video sorted, but I will soon.
Aren't the devs working on a tyre wear/temperature simulation now? So this & the actual ingame simulation would be awesome
I don't believe they are yet, but they probably will in the future. I've just added a preview video and some more information
Really cool! Better Sounds Mod has a feature like this, but it would still be cool to have a standalone version of the feature!
The common.zip is loaded in the game always, you can put the lua there and it will load with any vehicle. I'm not sure if that will work with 6 wheels or multiple vehicles at the same time tho. I also have a question, does tire type affect the wear? I love drifting in this game and it'd be nice to get more life from the drift tires.
Thanks, tyre type does not effect the wear at this time, it's something I may look into. This mod should work with any amount of wheels, as I coded it to do so.
Hey, this looks amazing......... Really, beam needs this. I suggest you give it to the devs when it's done (and if you expand it) and if they say no release it here.
This sounds dece. Its fitting to see a fellow Aussie producing this. And whats even better is that I'm making the Holden Monaro in my profile pic at the end of the year. And if you were to finish this mod (likely) and I were to make a config for a certain burnout car known as CRANKY.... this might be possible.....
This would be cool, but I am also going to jump on the boat that I would love to see even a somewhat generic tire wear simulation. Another thought would be to try to do a thermal simulation as a little heat can mean more grip versus a lot of heat meaning greasiness. I've no idea what I'm talking about here, but the race brakes in game are more effective when they are warmed up, yet less effective if they get too hot. Something like that for tires I guess would be amazing. I know you stated in your first post that is not really what you're going for, but if you COULD, you would achieve a God like status here. Aussie burnouts are cool, but these burnouts would be even easier if you could get the tires hot and greasy to where they don't stick so well to the pavement. Would help keep clutches and motors cool. So I just think thermal simulation with grip simulation would really benefit the effectiveness of this mod quite a lot.
This is....awesome. Have you figured out how to do the lua yet? Btw nice skid. What motor were you using in the Grand Marshall? I'm trying to ask around for someone to make this engine sound from the Holden VN Commodore v6 for the Grand Marshall. To anyone not Aussie its known as mang mang. The VN is commonly used as a cheap skid car and whenever the engine revs high during a skid, it makes a funny and strange sound known as mang mang. The mang mang sound would go perfect with this tire mod. Here is a link to a mang mang video if anyones interested. Warning it does get annoying very easily.
Update: I can assure you I am still working on this mod, sadly my laptop has died and I'm waiting on shipment for a new one. I will then recover the project off my HDD and keep working on it. A problem I was having before my laptop died is that I want to delete the tyre after a certain ammount of time, does anyone know the Lua code to delete / remove a part from a car? Cheers
You could try and ask in mod support (on the forums page) I'm not sure on what it is but someone else might hopefully.
