Hello! I decided, that since we need more floating stuff(a personal opinion), that I would see about making more boats/water craft, when I discovered that automation mods use the same node prefixes, so its possible to make 1 addon work with all of them. This made me think about making a universal mod, and after talking a bit with someone on reddit who was looking into making an automation mod float, I started working. This mod is "universal" in the sense that it should be usable with most if not all, automation vehicle mods. The mod is still a wip, and I am still figuring some stuff out, but it is currently working on all vehicles that I have tested. To adjust the mod for each vehicle, it adds a section in the tuning menu that gives the option to adjust the height, weight, and length of the nodes that make up the "float box"(box of nodes that makes the vehicle float". The weight is VERY important to edit, as heavier vehicles will require a heavier node weight on the float box, otherwise it will throw instabilities and break the game. The length width and height are also important, as smaller vehicles you can adjust it to match, and then larger vehicles the same. I am planning on adding a propeller for propulsion and steering, but while I am still doing the tuning of the main system, I have thrusters in place of that. This mod works on small sports cars, to large suvs, to even busses. This mod will be release somewhat soon once I get a propeller in and working how I like. UPDATE 1: I have separated the mod into a left and right pontoon part, rather than 1 large part. The tuning menu is alot simpler now, way less options and more user friendly. I redid the file order and placed the mod in common, so to use it on release you no longer will have to place it in the files manually. UPDATE 2: Simplified the tuning menu, by making it combined rather than separate for left and right, now there are only 3 things to adjust! UPDATE 3: Added a tuning slot for the strength of the attaching beams, as heavier vehicles can break them off more easily Please leave any recommendations in the comments below, and let me know what you think! *the bus in the pictures is NOT mine, credit goes to the creator of that automation mod*
Nice Also, I have a couple of questions: - Once this releases, could i put this mod into my automation mod and release it on the repo? The mod in question is a hovercar. It’s already released, so I would just release it as an update. - Are the thrusters and propellers going to be changeable? Like would you be able to choose one or the other, or are the thrusters just a placeholder? - If the propellers have a model, would it be possible to essentially make them invisible? Like have the nodes and stuff but the actual visible mesh is invisible.
So, to answer the questions, I would be fine with people releasing an automation mod that uses this, so long as they give credit. For the propellers, yes, they will be interchangeable, so you can choose to have either thrusters, OR, a propeller. For the propellers mesh, yes, I am planning to add one, but to remove them you can simply edit out or delete the flex body section in your mod, or alternatively, use the thrusters instead. Hope these are helpful answers! --- Post updated --- Which automation mod, one of the vehicles in the screenshots? The bus can be found on the repo I can try to find the name later today when I get home, the other 2 I made as test vehicles for the mod.
