Update reset all my settings

Hello. This is maybe the third time an update has reset all my settings. I can understand maybe graphics settings changing or whatever relates to some functionality that has been changed by the update, but why does my controller setup need to be deleted? My controller is the same both before and after the update.
I checked the user data folder which DOES contain old versions, ok cool but those do not include the settings folder for me to copy and replace the current (default) one.

So, now, for the third time I gotta try and remember what setup it was that I'm used to using and then go through the trouble to set it up again, I sure wonder which sensitivity I had before... Anyway this time I am copying whatever I make into a separate folder and keeping it for the next update. I don't suppose there's a way not to have to manually(!) save my settings so the next update doesn't delete them? Thanks
